FBC Carthage E-News for February 10, 2014

FBC Carthage E-News
February 10, 2014

Good Morning,

This is a special week as we celebrate the relationships in our lives and remember the special ones in our lives on Valentine’s Day.  Guys, I hope you are planning to express your love in a special way to your wife this Friday.  Maybe some flowers, a card, and or a gift would be a good start. I also remind you of the Couple’s Dinner at the Christian Life Center on Friday night at 6:30 PM.  It is not too late to sign up if you will call the church office (735-1929) today.  We will have a delicious meal and a great time of fellowship with other couples.  Jeff has a special video that will make you laugh and I will share some keys to communication in your marriage.  Call today and reserve your spaces for Friday night.

A special thank you to the guys who braved the snow and cold Saturday for our Men’s Breakfast and participated in the projects.  We were able to accomplish the projects for three families even though one turned out a little bigger than originally estimated.  Good work guys!  We will plan to do it again on Saturday, March 8 at 7:00 AM in the Christian Life Center.

Speaking of good projects, the Back Pack program will be meeting today at 4:30 PM at the Ag Center to pack 1000 bags of food to send home with needy children from Smith County on the weekends.  Simply come to the Ag Center this afternoon and join in the production line.

This is also the week for the Community Food Distribution on Wednesday, February 12 at the Ag Center.  Volunteers are needed to prepare the food boxes beginning around 11:30AM.   If you need a box of food or have people you would like to carry a box of food you can make a box while you are there.  This is a great ministry opportunity to the people in our community.

As you watch the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, I remind you to pray for the mission work of hundreds of Southern Baptist volunteers who are there to serve and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.   Here are several resources from the International Mission Board for you to learn about the work and use yourself to share Jesus during the Olympics:
For a witness tool using the Olympic Colors go to www.EngageSochi.org.
For a downloadable guide to activities go to www.EngageSochi.org/resources.
For an explanation of the mission go to www.engagesochi.org/about/our-strategy.
For a Prayer Guide go to www.engagesochi.org/uploads/Prayer_Guides_2.4.pdf.

Have a blessed week as you serve the Lord and love one another,
Bro. Tim
