Good Morning,
This is an exciting week
as both Smith County and Gordonsville High Schools have their graduations. In addition, many of the colleges and
universities have graduation this weekend as well. Congratulations to our high school and
college graduates for the accomplishment of their diplomas/degrees. Be praying for the graduates this week:

Vacation Bible School is
coming quickly, June 10-14. I have
listed the workers and schedules at the end of this e-news. Be praying for the workers and students as
they plan for the week. We are looking
forward to seeing the Lord move in a great way and many come to salvation
through faith in Jesus. By the way, it’s
not too late to volunteer as a worker in VBS.
Contact Kristina Hall or Rhonda Ethridge for more information.
Have a blessed week:
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the
week:
1.
The Women on Missions group will meet tonight
at 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center. They will discuss several up-coming
mission events including Backyard Bible Club at Project Circle. All ladies are invited to attend.
2.
The Senior Adult Fellowship will meet on
Tuesday, May 7 at 11:00 AM and travel to Nick’s Restaurant in Cookeville for
lunch. All adults 55+ are invited to
join us.
3.
The May Church
Business Meeting will be this Wednesday night, May 8 at 6:30 PM in the
Sanctuary. There will reports on the
ministry of the church and a recommendation to begin a ministry through video
media.
4.
The postal
carriers will be collecting non-perishable food this Saturday, May 11 for
distribution through the Smith County Help Center. Each month this ministry serves the needy in
Smith County through food boxes, as well as through utility assistance.
5.
This Sunday, May
12 is Mother’s Day and we will present a gift to all mothers. If your mom doesn’t regularly attend FBC
Carthage, invite her to join you this Sunday.
6.
Parents - As the school year ends and summer begins, please
be reminded and remain aware of the value of faith-based summer reading for
your child's spiritual and academic growth and success. Our FBC Children's,
Tweens' and Teens' Library collection is updated, varied, and extensive. See
the bulletin board near the library for more information (including a
soon-to-come list of titles grouped by interest and grade-level
appropriateness). Put on your sunglasses (that bright green paint is not
getting any dimmer!), and stop by the church library with your child.
7. Michal Deaver and Anna Maxwell will be traveling on
mission to the Dominican Republic on two separate mission trips with SCORE
International. Anna will be
participating in a Sport Team in July 2013 and Michal will be a part of a
Medical Team in February 2014.
8. Speaking of mission trips, there is still opportunity
for you to join in the Mission Montana Team 2013 for our trip June 23 – July
3. We will conduct Vacation Bible
School, have community events, and help with several projects at the First
Baptist Church in Poplar, Montana. The
next planning meeting will be May 19 at 4:00 PM in the classroom to the right
of the Sanctuary.
9. The youth will be serving with other youth groups in
our county in ReFuel 2013 on May 28-31.
This community mission project will focus on ministry needs in our homes
and community. One need we have for
ReFuel is projects for the students to work on during the week. If you have a need or know of others in your
neighborhood who have needs around their house, let us know by contacting Bro.
Jeff at 736-1929.
10.
An Associational Children’s Day Camp will
be held at New Middleton Baptist Church on May 20-23 for children in grades
1-6. The cost for the Day Camp is $15
which includes lunch each day. Thursday
is a “wet” day with water games and activities.
11.
The Children’s Committee is planning a trip to Dollywood for the entire
family on Thursday, June 6. The bus will
leave Carthage at 7 AM and return around 10 PM. Cost for anyone age 12+ is
$50.00, ages 4-11 is $40. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Transportation via church bus is provided for up to 23 people. Sign up deadline
is Sunday, May 19. Contact church office or Fran Frank to sign up.

The Smith County
Drug Coalition will sponsor a Stay Sharp Drug Prevention workshop on Thursday,
May 23 at 6:00 PM at the Old Courthouse.
This program will be presented by Teen Challenge and will focus
