FBC Carthage E-News
May 20, 2013
Good Morning,
It is great to be back
with you in Carthage after a restful and enjoyable week with my family in
Virginia Beach. We took a few days to be
together after my graduation from Liberty.
Thank you for all the notes and words of congratulations on my
graduation. My degree was a good journey
and very helpful in my ministry, but I am very glad and relieved to have it
completed. Thanks again for your
encouragement in this process.
Yesterday kicked-off the
summer theme “Love Loud” with ministry t-shirts for everyone and a new series
on Sunday mornings entitled, “A Summer of Sharing.” If you did not pick up a t-shirt, stop by the
Connection Point and get one for you and your family. If you do not find your size, there will be a
sign-up sheet for a follow-up order as necessary.
When asked what Love Loud
means, I respond by saying it is an emphasis for Christians to live out the
love of Jesus to other people. It may be
as simple as a smile and kind word, a cup of cold water given in Jesus’ name, a
meal taken to a lonely neighbor, or a mission trip to a remote part of the
world. We are surrounded by
opportunities to live out our faith in Jesus and share His love with other
people. The scripture verse on the front
of the t-shirt is 1 Corinthians 16:14 which says, “Let all that you do be done
with love.” We have shortened it on the
shirt to read, “Let all be done with love.”
As we Love Loud through kind deeds and ministry efforts, lets also
remember to share with the people the reason we are doing these things, the
love of Jesus in our hearts. What He has
done in salvation for us, He will also do for them. Let ministry be a bridge over which you carry
the gospel. This video from yesterday’s
services is a challenge to Love Loud for Jesus: http://skitguys.com/videos/item/its-our-time
A Summer of Sharing series
is to encourage each of us, myself included, to be open to and ready for
opportunities to share a word of testimony and witness for the Lord to those
around us. Each week we will include a
different witnessing tract for you to give to someone as the Lord gives
opportunity. May our pray this summer be
that of the early Christians in Acts 4:29, “Now, Lord, grant
to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word.”
Tonight
is a special night for one of our local partners in ministry. The Pregnancy Help Center is having their
annual fundraising banquet at the Ag Center at 6:30 PM. The Pregnancy Help Center ministers to women
and children during and after their pregnancy.
The center stands for the life of the unborn child and offers
encouragement, training, and resources to help the mothers and families. In addition, the center joins with the Youth
Resource Network to teach sexual abstinence until marriage in the local
schools. The Pregnancy Help Center is
located at 108 College Avenue West, just behind Heartland Realty Company. Come tonight to the banquet or stop by the
center on Monday, Wednesday, or Saturday and find out more about ways you can
be involved in this important ministry.
Have a
blessed week as we begin Summer 2013,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the
week:
1.
This Sunday, May 26 will be our church-wide
Memorial weekend picnic at Crump Paris Park picnic pavilion, next to the Kid’s
Kingdom playground. We begin around 4:00

we will eat a covered dish picnic supper and have our evening service at the
park at 6:00 PM. Bring a covered dish, a
lawn chair, and join in this evening together.
2.
We will be conducting the campground service
at Defeated Creek Park this Sunday, May 26 at 8:30 AM. Brad Tackett will be leading this service.

Vacation Bible School is quickly approaching
and we are asking everyone to be praying for this important week in the life of
our church and in the lives of the children who will attend. We are praying for many to put their faith
and trust in Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
There are still several opportunities for you to serve in this year’s
VBS, June 10-14.
4.
ReFuel 2013 will
be next week, May 28-31. This will be a week of community ministry projects in
which our youth will join with several other churches in our community. For more information contact Jeff Hall. Also, if you have projects that the youth could
be of assistance, let Jeff know as well.
5.
Plans are coming
together for the mission trip to Montana, June 23-July 3. We will be working primarily in Vacation
Bible School with the First Baptist Church in Poplar. Montana. In addition to the work, we will be going to
Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone Park. There
is still opportunity for you to be a part of the team. Contact Tim Frank for more information.
6.
This Saturday,
May 25 is Heritage Day at Granville, Tennessee.
Wear your Love Loud t-shirt and look for opportunities to share. I anticipate people will ask you about your
shirt and begin the conversation. Be
bold and share. Steve Deaver is planning
on having a ministry point in his yard on the main road going into Granville with
free ice water, chairs to sit and rest, and opportunities to greet the
people. Stop by and join him in
ministry.
