FBC Carthage E-News
April 29, 2013
Good Morning,
I begin this morning with
a special “Thank You” to our Children’s Choir and leaders for a wonderful
service last night as they presented “The Star Factor.” The message and music of the program were an
encouragement to me and I appreciate the dedication and hard work that goes
into a special service. The service was
a blessing.
This coming Sunday, May 5,
will be our Graduate Recognition service and luncheon. We have a large group of graduates from high
school and college. Jeff Hall is
collecting information and pictures to use in this special service. Please get that information to him by
Wednesday. The video tribute will be
shown in both morning services. At 12
Noon we will have a church-wide luncheon in honor of our graduates. Everyone is invited and asked to bring a
covered dish for the meal. We will recognize the graduates and present them
with a gift from the church.
This is a great week to
pray for our students as they prepare for their final exams and finish up
another year of school. Pray for their
teachers as well during these final days of the school year.
We have an exciting summer
planned with missions, camp, special services, and activities of all types. A calendar of the summer events is listed at
the end of this E-News. Take a minute to
jot down the dates.
As we think of the summer,
the big event each year is Vacation Bible School. This year our VBS will be June 10-14 with the
kick-off event held on June 9. In
preparation for this important week, we will have a planning meeting this
Sunday, May 5 at 4:30 PM in the Christian Life Center for all workers. If you have not yet signed-up to help in VBS
plan to come to this meeting on Sunday and we will get you plugged-in. You can also contact Kristina Hall or Rhonda
Ethridge to learn more about the opportunities to serve.
This is a big week for
Jeff, Kristina, and Peyton Hall as they move into a more permanent home in
Cumberland Cove. They will be moving on
Wednesday, May 1.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the
week:
1.
The Wednesday night adult prayer service and
Bible study will be back in the Sanctuary beginning this Wednesday, May 1 at
6:30 PM. We will begin a new series as
we study through the passages that will be taught in this year’s Vacation Bible
School.
2.
This Thursday, May 2 is the National Day of
Prayer and I encourage you to take some extra time to pray for our nation. There are many challenges which face our
elected leaders and it becomes very easy to become negative, talk about them,
and become critical. The helpful
response, on the other hand, is to pray for them and for God’s wisdom and
guidance for our nation. A special
Community Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 6:00 PM at the
Courthouse. Join together with other
believers throughout our county as we stop and pray for our nation.
3.
The youth will be
joining together as a group to participate in the Jordan Hackett Run on
Saturday, May 4. Following the run (and
time to clean-up) they will meet at 1:45 PM and enjoy an afternoon at the
movies in Lebanon. Contact Bro. Jeff
Hall for more information.
4.
The youth will
also be serving with other youth groups in our county in ReFuel 2013 on May
28-31. This community mission project
will focus on ministry needs in our homes and community. One need we have for ReFuel is projects for
the students to work on during the week.
If you have a need or know of others in your neighborhood who have needs
around their house, let us know by contacting Bro. Jeff at 736-1929.
5.
The Women on
Mission meeting will be next Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 PM. They will meet this month in the Christian
Life Center and discuss several special mission opportunities for the summer
through Backyard Bible Clubs in Carthage and the Defeated Campground. All ladies are invited to attend.
6.
The Senior Adult
Fellowship will be traveling next Tuesday, May 7 for lunch at Nick’s Restaurant
in Cookeville. We will leave from FBC
Carthage at 11:00 AM. All adults 55+ are
invited to travel with us for a great time of fellowship.
7.
An
Associational Children’s Day Camp will be held at New Middleton Baptist Church
on May 20-23 for children in grades 1-6.
The cost for the Day Camp is $15 which includes lunch each day. Thursday is a “wet” day with water games and
activities.
8. The Children’s Committee is
planning a trip to Dollywood for the entire family on Thursday, June 6. The bus will leave Carthage at 7
AM and return around 10 PM. Cost for anyone age 12+ is $50.00, ages 4-11 is
$40. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Transportation via church bus is
provided for up to 23 people. Sign up deadline is Sunday, May 19. Contact
church office or Fran Frank to sign up.
9. Take an extra
moment to look over the calendar for the coming summer months. You can also go online and view the Church
Calendar at www.fbccarthage.com and
