FBC Carthage E-News for February 25, 2013

FBC Carthage E-News
February 25, 2013

Good Morning,

The big news for this week is the calling of Jeff Hall as our Minister to Youth and Families.  The official vote was taken yesterday and Jeff received a unanimous vote to call him to FBC Carthage.  I talked to him yesterday afternoon and gave him the news of the call and he accepted and will begin serving this week.  Please be in prayer for Jeff, Kristina, and Peyton as they pack up this week and prepare for their move to Carthage.  Jeff and Kristina plan to go with the youth this weekend to the Youth Evangelism Conference (YEC) in Nashville.  All youth are encouraged to attend this special “first trip” with Jeff and Kristina.  It will be a great opportunity to get to know them.

This week begins my College Road Trip as I visit our college students.  This Thursday, February 28 I will be having dinner with the students at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Next Tuesday, March 5 I will be having lunch with the students at Vol State.  Jeff Hall is planning on traveling with me to the schools and meeting our students.

This Sunday, March 3 begins the Week of Prayer for North American Missions.  As we focus on missions across the United States and Canada, let us prepare our hearts for God to use us in missions through going, giving, and praying.  The theme this year is “Whatever It Takes: Reaching the One”.  Missions begins right here in Carthage, Tennessee and reaches to the ends of the nation and world.  Let us live “on mission” with the Lord Jesus Christ.  The North American Mission Board has an awesome website, check it out: http://www.namb.net/.
Also, the mission videos for this year’s emphasis can be viewed at:   http://www.anniearmstrong.com/2013video/

Speaking of missions, Josh Lynn and a mission team from Tennessee Tech Baptist Collegiate Ministry will be traveling to South Asia March 8-17.  Be praying for Josh and the team as they share the gospel, lead in youth rallies, and proclaim the truth of Jesus.  If you would like to help financially with this project you can contact Josh directly or give a gift through the FBC Carthage church office.

I have placed the “Read through the Bible” guide for March at the end of this e-news.  Make time each day to spend with the Lord, reading His word and praying.  This reading guide can be a tool for you in your daily Quiet Time.  As a believer in Jesus Christ, it is important to spend time with Him, to get to know Him, and to hear what He says through the Bible.  Take the challenge and read through the Bible.  Start where we are in the reading plan and begin today.  You can also have the passages following this plan e-mailed to you each day by going to: http://www.biblegateway.com/reading-plans/.  The instructions led you through the process and the scriptures will arrive in your inbox each morning.

Have a blessed week and remember to pray for Jeff, Kristina, and Peyton as they pack and prepare to move to Carthage.  These are exciting days at FBC Carthage!

Bro. Tim
