E-News for February 4, 2013

FBC Carthage E-News
February 4, 2013

Good Morning,

It was a blessing to have Don Pierson with us in the services yesterday.  I appreciate his passion and intensity as he shares the scriptures.   I also appreciate his leading our session in the afternoon on Connection Groups.  I am convinced that these groups are a major key in reaching into the lives of lost people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  May the Lord lead many of us to reach out to those around us and tell them the stories of Jesus.  This week, allow God’s Holy Spirit to identify a person or group you with whom you can share.  Look for the “Nicodemus” and “Woman at the Well” in your daily journey.

This is an exciting week of missions as we prepare for the Parent’s Night Out at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home this Friday, February 8.  We will meet at the church parking lot at 4:30 PM and leave by 4:45 PM.  There are several crafts, games, and activities we will be doing with the children.  We will also serve them dinner and have a time of devotional around the theme of love.  Thanks to all those who have made the preparations for this great evening of service.

I also want to thank the adult Sunday School classes for the donations which have gone toward restaurant gift cards for the house parents at the TBC Children’s Home. We will give them to the parents this Friday.

The “Baby Bottle” offering received for the Pregnancy Help Center is now over $1,200.  If you still have your baby bottle, fill it and bring it with you to church.  The Center will be blessed to receive your special offering.

Pray for the Personnel Committee this week as they meet on Wednesday at 5:30 PM and continue the search process for our Minister to Youth.  The committee has made great progress and needs your prayers undergirding their discussions and decisions.  May the Lord lead us to His man who will share the vision of reaching and making disciples of the students of our community.  We had a great attendance of students yesterday in the services and I thank the Lord for the opportunity we have to impact their lives.

Have a blessed week as you serve the Lord,
Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:
1.      The Women on Missions will meet tonight, February 4 at 6:30 PM at Fran Frank’s home, 607 Main Street N.  All ladies are invited to attend as they discuss the Children’s Home project and other mission opportunities for our church.  In addition to missions, the Women on Missions meetings are a great opportunity to get to know the ladies in our church.

2.      The Couples Valentine Dinner will be held on Friday, February 15 at 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  Robbie’s Catering will be preparing and serving a delicious meal for the couples.  The program, Valentines for Dummies” will feature David Turner, a Christian ventriloquist from Alexandria.  This will be a evening filled with laughter, great food, and a focus on love.  You can sign-up this week by calling the church office at 735-1929.  There will also be sign-up sheets this Sunday in the Connection Point and in the adult Sunday School classes.  The cost for the evening is $20 per couple.

3.     Youth – Details for Winter Jam this Saturday, February 9 will be discussed on Wednesday night, February 6 during Youth Bible Study at 6:30 PM.

4.     This Wednesday night will also be our monthly business meeting at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary.  The business meetings are a great way to keep up with the ministries of the church.  Prayer time and Bible Study follow immediately after the Business Meeting.

5.     Senior Adult Fellowship - Adults 55+ are reminded of our meeting next Tuesday, February 12 at 11:30 AM in the Christian Life Center.  Bring a covered dish and a picture of you and your spouse during your dating and/or early marriage years.

6.     Although it is still winter we are beginning to make plans for Vacation Bible School, June 10-14.  Save the week on your calendar and plan to be a part of the VBS 2013 Team.  Sign-ups will begin in the next few weeks so volunteer early for the class/age group you would like to serve.  Vacation Bible School is our greatest outreach to the children and families of our community.  May this year be “Colossal”, our greatest year ever in attendance, professions of faith, and impact in families.

7.     Attention Men! – Valentine’s Day is less than two weeks away.  To help us get into the “Valentine” spirit, here are three great videos from the skit guys:
