FBC Cartage E-News
September 24, 2012
Good Morning,
This is Homecoming week at Smith County High School so that means a lot of activities, the homecoming parade on Friday, and or course, the football game Friday night. Kewon Foster, a former football player for Tennessee Tech, will be our guest at the 5th Quarter following the game. All students, grades 7-12 are invited and encouraged to attend. Kewon lives in Atlanta, Georgia and will be traveling to Carthage to share with our students. He will also be preaching in the services on Sunday while I am out of town. Pray for our students during this special week.
Congratulations to Michael and Selicia Collins on their Baby Dedication Service yesterday of their daughter, Lucy. She was so precious during the dedication.
Yesterday was also a special day as our five new deacons served in their first Lord’s Supper service. Pray for these five young men as they serve the Lord here at FBC Carthage.
Thank you to Charlie Daigre and his class for conducting the Defeated Creek Campground Service yesterday. They had six campers come and join them for the service.
I want to remind you one last time of the Operation Christmas Child Rally this Saturday, September 29 at 6:00 PM at the Ag Center. There are over 220 people signed-up for this great evening. The Timberloft Restaurant is providing and donating the meals for the evening. The highlight of the program will be the testimony of Oksana Nelson, a young lady who received a Christmas Box as an orphan child in Russia. If you have not signed up, call the church office 735-1929 or e-mail Melody Tackett wom2644@gmail.com by Wednesday, September 26.
Please pray for the upcoming trip and Camp Meeting in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. I will leave on October 10 for the trip and meet the two Canadian First Nation believers, Alec Sunrise and Alex Tambour, will be leading the meetings. I believe the Lord is going to do great things through this effort as we reach into the Inuit people group with the gospel. A 24-Hour Prayer Event for the Camp Meeting/Revival Services at Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, Canada will begin on October 10. A sign-up sheet for the prayer vigil will be in the Connection Point.
Speaking of missions, the Golden State Mission Offering for Tennessee Baptists has received $835.11. If you would like to give toward Baptist mission causes in Tennessee you can still send your donations to FBC Carthage, 409 Main St N, Carthage, TN 37030.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the week:
1. Today we finish our four week focus on the students from FBC Carthage who are preparing to serve the Lord through missions. Sam Smith is a student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Their web site is www.swbts.edu. Sam is also serving as an Intern at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas. Their web site is www.prestonwood.org/plano. I encourage you to take a minute and visit one of our Southern Baptist seminaries and a great church. Here is Sam’s responses to the WOM questions:
Sam, what is you favorite memory of FBC Carthage?
