FBC Carthage E-News for October 8, 2012

FBC Carthage E-News
October 8, 2012

Good Afternoon,

This is an exciting week in the life of FBC Carthage as we have our first mission effort into our adopted people group, the Inuit people in Nunavut.  I will be joining with Alec Sunrise and Alex Tambour, two native men from Canada, and traveling to Cambridge Bay for a Camp Meeting/Revival.  The Camp Meeting will be this Friday through Sunday, October 12-14.  Our travel will begin on Wednesday, October 10 and I will return on Friday, October 19.  I am looking forward to spending some time next week with Donny Coulter, North American Mission Board missionary in Canada.  Please join in prayer for the team and the Inuit people during this initial mission effort.  Here are some special prayer events and needs for the trip:

·        This Wednesday, October 10 begins a 24-hour Prayer Vigil at 5:00 PM.  People will be praying at specific hours during that 24-hour time.  If you are not signed-up, simply select an hour Wednesday night or Thursday and spend in prayer for the mission trip to Cambridge Bay.

·        During the Wednesday Night Prayer Service we will be having a special time of prayer for the mission effort.

·        Before the Wednesday Night service the Sanctuary will be open at 5:00 PM for you to come and spend time in prayer.

·        After the Wednesday Night Service, everyone including the youth, leaders, and children’s workers are encouraged to join in the Sanctuary from 7:30-8:00 PM for an extra time of prayer focused on the Inuit Mission Trip.  In addition to prayer, two special videos will be shown to help us focus our prayers.  One will be from Bro. Tim and the other will introduce Chief Alec Sunrise who will be leading the Camp Meeting.

·        Prayer Guides are available at the Connection Point as a resource during your times of prayer.

For missions a little closer to home, the New Salem Baptist Association is holding a week of backyard Bible clubs at Project Circle and South Carthage Housing.  FBC Carthage will lead the club and prepare a meal for the children today at Project Circle and tomorrow at South Carthage Housing.

This week we are also collecting canned food and other non-perishables to bring to church this Sunday, October 14 for World Hunger Day.  The collection bins are located at the Connection Point and the 2nd floor hallway in the Education Building.  You can bring your food early on Wednesday night if you would like.  All food given will be taken to the Smith County Help Center.  All non-perishable food is needed; however canned meat, peanut butter, sugar, corn muffin mix, and macaroni and cheese are especially requested.   The Smith County Help Center is located on Main Street in Carthage and is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to assist Smith County residents and transients with emergency needs to include food, utilities, clothing, and other special services.

It was a joy as John Carnes lead us yesterday in worship during the services.  He is from Mt. Juliet and will be with us for several Sundays.  I encourage you to introduce yourself to John and get to know him.  He will be meeting with the Sanctuary Choir on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:30 PM.  All choir members, as well as everyone, are urged to come and be a part of the choir.

Speaking of the services, remember you can listen to the Sunday messages online by clicking on www.fbccarthage.com and going to the Media page.

Have a blessed week and remember to pray for the Camp Meeting in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.
Bro. Tim
