FBC Carthage E-News for June 4, 2012

FBC Carthage E-News

June 4, 2012

Good Morning,

As you read this E-News we have members of FBC Carthage serving the Lord in many different parts of the world. Zeke and three of our students are in Naples, Italy and Taylor Reece and Josh Lynn are in Nairobi, Kenya. Please take time to pray for these mission efforts through the week.

Here is an e-mail from Anna Maxwell, our Summer Intern, who is on the Italy Team:
Day 2 in Italy.
Today, actually yesterday here, we split in to 3 different groups and then groups of about 4. We went through the shops and cafes to begin building relationships with the locals here. This was a great experience but the language barrier was so bad for me! When someone tells you to study a sheet you will need to know it...STUDY! So please be praying for me and the others who are having difficulties with this. In the afternoon we went around and played with the children and teens. I loved this! The food we had today was also great! (I can't leave the food out!) it is Sunday here and we are going to the local churches today! Thanks for the prayers and keep sending them :) Also pics are on Facebook!
Love,
Anna Maxwell

I received this note from Zeke:
"8:54am in Naples, going back on the streets to share the Gospel with the few Italian words I know. We have seen God break through our language issues. We have made many friends so far. Pray for the harvest and laborers here in Italy! Chao"

During yesterday’s message I encouraged us all to spend time this week alone with God, listening as He speaks. Whether this is an hour, a morning, or a whole day, take time this week to open your hear to Him and say, “Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening.” He speaks to us through different means, but the main two is through His Holy Spirit living in believers and through the Bible, His written word. Also, remember the importance of doing what He says for you to do.

Vacation Bible School begins this coming Sunday, June 10 at 6:00 PM. There is always a great sense of excitement as the children come night after night to study the Bible, sing the songs, make crafts, learn about missions, enjoy the recreation and devour the snacks. Help spread the word to all the children in your family and your neighborhood. Vacation Bible School meets Sunday June 10 through Thursday, June 14 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. On Thursday, June 14 we will present a VBS Program for parents and the church at 7:30 PM. It’s going to be a great week in Vacation Bible School. Don’t miss it!

During Vacation Bible School we will be collecting small toys to take on the mission trip to Montana. Parents, this can be when you look through your child’s toy box and bring small "like new" toys for the Mission Montana Team to give out as prizes at the carnival we'll be having on the last night in Poplar. As part of the carnival, the children will have several games to play and as they finish playing they are allowed to choose a small prize. We need your help gathering those prizes: Happy Meal-type toys, Beanie Babies or other small stuffed animals; any small prizes will work. The "Family Feast"/carnival on Saturday night will most likely be our greatest opportunity to make connections and share the Gospel with the adults in Poplar. Containers will be available around the church building through Sunday morning, June 24th. Thank you.

Have a blessed week as we anticipate the excitement of Vacation Bible School.
Bro. Tim
