FBC Carthage E-News for September 5, 2011

FBC Carthage E-News

September 5, 2011

Good Labor Day morning,

This is a beautiful day to rejoice in the Lord. The rain may cause some changes in plans but it has cooled the temperatures and refreshed the earth. With the summer season officially ending today, there is an excitement of the fall season. I love this time of year as we move toward the celebration of Christmas. Take time to enjoy these days and to rejoice in the Lord.

The Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flame dramatic presentations were an awesome series of services last week with many lives forever changed. 35 professions of faith were recorded and many more were made at the Ag center and in the homes after the services. Thank you to the cast and everyone who worked so hard to present this message to our community. Jesus is the way to eternal life.

We had a great time last night with the “Indoor” picnic. The rain kept us from Defeated Creek Park but it did not defeat us. The attendance was great, the food was delicious, and the cornhole competition was fierce. We have some very intense competitors in the church. Unfortunately, I was not on the winning team, but we all had a lot of fun. Thank you to Kandy and Taylor for organizing the tournament and to everyone who brought the cornhole boards. Here are the winners for the tournament:

The big news for the week is the Beth Moore simulcast this Saturday, September 10 at the Ag Center. Here’s a final announcement:

Ladies, the Beth Moore Simulcast is this coming Saturday, September 10 at the Smith County Ag Center. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. Local worship begins at 9:00; the first simulcast session begins at 9:30 and lasts until 11:30. Lunch on your own from 11:30 to 1:00. The afternoon session is from 1:00 until around 4:15. Remember - if you'd like to see the special preview of the movie Courageous, that will be from 12:15 to 12:45 during the lunch break. You may want to bring a lunch or go get something and bring it back to eat while you watch. It's going to be a great day! Please make plans to attend and invite as many friends as you can. God loves us so much, and He has a word just for us this coming Saturday. You won't want to miss it!

Two upcoming events to be making plans to attend:
• On Missions Celebration Week September 24-28
We will have guest missionaries with us for a Mission Fair on Saturday night and for a series of special services beginning Sunday morning. These services are for everyone as we focus on missions and get to know several of our missionaries from the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, and Tennessee Baptist Convention.

• Couples Night at the Movies Saturday, October 1
We will plan go see the new movie “Courageous” at the Roxy Theatre in Lebanon. This movie is made by Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia who made “Facing the Giants” and “Fireproof.”

This Wednesday night will be our regular monthly business meeting at 6:30 PM. We will also begin a series of studies on the Fruit of the Spirit.

It is a pleasure to introduce you to those making decisions over the weekend. This week we had two families coming for membership: Jera Huff and her sons Camron and Nathan; and Carrie Myers and her son Tre’ Gammons. Welcome to FBC Carthage.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
