FBC Carthage E-News

September 12, 2011

Good morning,

It is a beautiful September morning in Tennessee. This is a great time of year as the temperatures cool and we move toward Fall. It is a perfect time to complete some of those projects I have been putting off until it is cooler outside. We all have those things we know we need to do, yet seem to put off until another day. This week may be the time to get started. It may be as simple as calling an old friend or writing an encouraging note. It may be more complex and time consuming. An old adage which I remind myself of often says, “Once begun is half done.” Get started and soon you will be enjoying the satisfaction of completion.

Yesterday, September 11 was a somber day for many throughout our nation. The ten year anniversary of 9/11has brought back many memories of that fateful day to my mind. The video we shared in the services is a good reminder of the strength we have in God during times of crisis. Here is the link for you to share it with someone else:

Congratulations to Cal and Lauren Upchurch Welch on their wedding this past Saturday.

Speaking of weddings, please pray this week for Kendra Apple and Hunter Birtsch as they look forward to their wedding service this Saturday, September 17.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:
1. The Beth Moore Simulcast at the Ag Center on Saturday was all that we had hoped for and more. About sixty-five women gathered to laugh, cry, study scripture, take notes, and worship as Beth Moore shared more than most of us had ever realized about Luke's role in Paul's life and ministry. Thank you to the steering team for the leadership it took to host this event for the women in our community. Many lives were touched and changed because of Saturday's meeting with each other and with our Heavenly Father. Special thanks to Zeke Tomaselli, A.J. Sharenberger and Steve Dowell for your invaluable help in our church's hosting of this women's event.

2. Make your plans to attend every session of our On Mission Celebration, September 24-28. We will have missionaries from Asia, South America, Illinois, and Tennessee. Here is a schedule of all the events of the On Mission Celebration:

• Saturday, September 24 5:00 PM “Kaleidoscope of Missions” Mission Fair
All of our guest missionaries, along with our own mission teams will have information, displays, and items from their countries. Following the time with the missionaries, we will enjoy a meal provided by the Tennessee Baptist Convention at 6:30 PM.

Everyone is invited for a special night out. We will have supper together at the Walton Hotel at 6:00 PM with Randy Poole, Missionary with the Mississippi River Ministry in Tennessee. We are praying for opportunities to serve directly in this ministry with Randy during 2012. It is our desire that mission teams, Sunday School classes, and individuals will have opportunity to be a part of this ministry and mission in the coming year.

• Tuesday, September 27 6:30 PM The Strategic Importance of Prayer
For the past year we have desired to grow in our prayer times together. Don Pierson is the Mission Prayer Strategist with the Tennessee Baptist Convention and he will be sharing with us the importance of prayer and leading us to pray. Don has shared with us at FBC Carthage several times in the past and we are looking forward to this service with him.
