FBC Carthage E-News
October 18, 2010
Good morning,
The cool weather has brought on the changing of the trees from green to their fall colors of orange, yellow, red, and brown. It is a beautiful time to take a walk and just be outside. One day this week, for your quiet time, take your Bible (and a jacket) and enjoy some time with the Lord in the beauty of the world He has created.
It was great to see the two mission teams back yesterday. The pictures and testimony from Zeke let me know the New York trip was fabulous. The daily blogs are still posted from the New York trip on the church’s web site home page under the Link of the Week. Simply go to: www.fbccarthage.com.
I also talked to Bro. Marty and Shelia Dodge and Glenda Baker after their mission trip to Hawaii. They came back with a great report and great tans. They were still getting over jet-lag so I am looking forward to hearing more and seeing pictures from their trip.
Yesterday was a great service with the emphasis on the cross and the observance of the Lord’s Supper. I am still thinking of the account Mary Hight shared of the two trapped Chilean miners trusting Jesus in the depths of the earth. God’s love reaches wherever people are and His grace saves the soul who receives Jesus Christ. As we saw in Romans 5, it’s a gift, a free gift, given through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Here’s a link to the song we played yesterday, thanking the Lord for the cross: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAplJ0_jDFc .
Have a blessed week and tell someone about what Jesus has done for them.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the week:

2. The Preschool and Children’s Committees will meet this Wednesday, October 20 in preparation for the Fall Festival next Wednesday, October 27. The committees will meet after the service in my office.
3. The Fall Festival will be held Wednesday, October 27 at 5:30 PM in the Christian Life Center. There will be food, games, inflatables, and prizes. We are still in need of candy for the children’s treat bags. You can bring candy by the church office or with you this Wednesday night.
4. It’s not too early to be making your holiday plans for your class and ministry group. As you do, please call the church office and let us put the dates on the calendar. This is especially important if you plan to use the Christian Life Center.
5. Speaking of holiday plans, here is a great mission opportunity for classes and/or individuals; Lighthouse Christian Camp will have two Christmas parties for children. The girl’s party will be Saturday, December 4 and the boy’s Christmas party will be Saturday, December 11. Each party will have over 300 children and involve over 100 adults and youth. This is an awesome event to be a part of and a great blessing during the holiday season. For more information you can contact Michael Kilgore at 931 529-0683.
6. Speaking of the Lighthouse Christmas Parties, we collected toys and gifts last year for this event and now is the time to do that again. We will have information this Sunday for gifts that are needed for the parties. There will be gift requests for children and adults. At the Christmas parties, the children will select gifts to give to their families as well as gifts for themselves. It provides them the joy of giving as well as receiving.
7. We have removed the old coal-fired boiler from downstairs and are working to make the room usable. There is a block half-wall that needs to be removed and the walls washed down and painted. If you would like to be a part of this project see Dewayne Wilmore or Bro. Tim.
8. During the New York mission trip, the team learned a simple process of sharing their faith in Christ called “Share Jesus Without Fear.” Here is the link to an informational website that will give you a look at the scriptures and questions used to share Jesus with others:
