FBC Carthage E-News for August 23, 2010

FBC Carthage E-News
August 23, 2010

Good morning,

This is a challenging day for the Frank family. We were at Cookeville Regional Hospital at 5:30 AM for my daughter, Sara’s surgery on her torn ACL in her knee. Please remember us in your prayers through the day. It should be an out-patient surgery and we should be home this afternoon.

As a pastor, I have been with many families during surgery. It is always different when the surgery is in my family. It is times like these that help me keep a proper perspective in ministry. Surgery is never routine if it is on you or your family. The Lord does give us a peace and comfort as we go through difficult and trying times.

I want to say a special thank you to Cindy Dowell and the harp ensemble from FBC Cookeville. The service last night was a blessing as they shared through music.

Have a blessed week and thank you for your prayers.

Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:

1. It is exciting to welcome Lisa Miller as a new member of FBC Carthage. She comes on statement of faith that she has trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord and has followed Him obediently in believer’s baptism by immersion.

2. Attention, all Sunday School Teachers! The annual Sunday School teacher’s training conference will be tonight Monday, August 23 at the First Baptist Church in Cookeville. We will plan to take the church van and at 5:30 PM from the church parking lot. Follow this link for a listing of the classes available at the conference:

3. The first 5th Quarter youth fellowship will be this Friday, August 27 after the Smith County vs Gordonsville football game. There will be food, games, prizes and a brand-new format. The theme of the night will be a Hawaiian Luau! 5th Quarter will begin right after the game and finish at 11:30 PM. Invite your friends to attend this great event after the big game. All youth, 7th -12th grades, are invited.

4. Ladies, the BIG event is coming! On Saturday, September 18 FBC Carthage will host the live Beth Moore Living Proof Conference by simulcast. We have placed a link on the church web site with information and a personal message from Beth Moore. Check it out at
www.fbccarthage.com. You can purchase tickets for $10 (which includes lunch) from the church office or at Magnolia’s Gifts. This will be an event to invite your friends to attend.

5. The FBC Carthage Fall Work-Day will be this Saturday, August 28 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. We will have several work projects around the church so come dressed to work. A couple of the items will involve painting. It is always fun and rewarding to work together on projects that fix-up the church.

6. The FBC Carthage Labor Day Picnic will be Sunday afternoon, September 5 at 5:00 PM. We will gather at the Defeated Creek Picnic Pavilion and everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share.

7. Looking into September, there will be a men’s cookout at the Defeated Creek Campground Pavilion on Thursday night, September 16 at 6:00 PM. A men’s group from Woodstock Baptist Church in Woodstock Georgia will be joining us as our special guests.

8. Here is the link to an interesting presentation on the Biblical worldview by Answers In Genesis President, Ken Hamm. I am looking forward to having a Answers In Genesis Weekend in January 2011. Check out the video at:
