FBC Carthage E-News for May 4, 2010

FBC Carthage E-News
May 4, 2010

Good Morning,

The FBC Carthage E-News is a day late this week because of the flooding. Yesterday was spent checking on people and helping with the emergency shelter. A special “Thank you” goes to those who helped yesterday and today at the shelter with meals and caring for the children. The rain and rising water have caused a lot of challenges in Smith County and throughout the state.

Speaking of the flooding, many have asked how they can help those affected by the flooding. I anticipate the greatest opportunities to help are coming later this week and next as families move back into their homes and need help with clean-up. As you know of needs please contact the church office or send me an e-mail at
tfrank@fbccarthage.com and I will let you know of the projects that are needed.

The 2010 Youth ReFuel Community Missions Week will be June 2-5. Young people, grades 7-12, from across Smith County will be joining together to make a difference in our area. If you have projects for the students during that week, contact me, Bro. Tim, or Zeke and let us know.

In all the excitement of the flooding, we want to remember that this Sunday is Mother’s Day, May 9. I encourage each one to do something special for your mom this Mother’s Day. If you are like me and your mom is deceased, take some time this weekend remembering your mom and thanking the Lord for her influence in your life.

This is also graduation time and we have several students graduating from Smith County High School and area colleges. The graduation dates are:
Tennessee Tech Saturday, May 8
Middle Tennessee State University Saturday, May 8
Gordonsville High School Friday, May 14
Smith County High School Saturday, May 15

This Thursday, May 6 is the National Day of Prayer at there will be a Prayer Rally at the Courthouse at 6:30 PM. I will be sharing, along with Shane Smith and Doug Dillard. This is a great opportunity to gather together and pray for our community, our state and our nation. During times of disaster and need America has always turned to God in prayer. Join me as we join our hearts and minds together as Christians and pray.

One last thing for today, we are hosting a Life Line Screening on Monday, May 17. This screening offers medical tests at a reasonable rate. For more information you can call 1-800-324-1851.

Have a blessed week, be open and available for opportunities to serve others.

Bro. Tim
