FBC Carthage E-News for April 26, 2010

FBC Carthage E-News
April 26, 2010

Good morning,

It’s hard to believe that its time for graduation and the end of school events. This past weekend’s Children’s Choir program and this coming weekend’s Graduate Recognition and Luncheon are but two of the reminders that this school year is quickly coming to a close and Summer will be here very soon.

A special “Thank You” goes to all the children in the Children’s Choir who lead us last night in “Sermon on the Mound.” The program had a great message and the children did a wonderful job. There is something special about a Children’s Choir program at FBC Carthage, especially with the younger preschool children. I loved “watching the dandelions grow.” An extra special “Thank You” goes to Amy Broyles and all the workers who direct the children and put the program together.

Congratulations are in order for the 2010 graduates who will be recognized this Sunday, May 2. We have several high school and college graduates who will be our honorees. Zeke is putting together a special video for the services and I will share a message of encouragement and challenge to the graduates. We will all join together at 12:00 Noon for a potluck luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. The church will furnish the bread and drinks. Everyone is invited for this fun and delicious event as we honor the graduates.
Our Smith County High School graduates are:
Lindsey Angel
Timmy Bush
Grant Denny
Amanda Eatherly
Kelsy Eatherly
James Fields
Wade Johnson
Paige Upchurch

Our college graduates are:
Joe Paul Tackett Tennessee Technological University
Katie Goolsby Tennessee Technological University
Brent Reece University of Tennessee
LaShae Johnson Middle Tennessee State University

If there are others graduating, please contact me or the church office at 735-1929.

Have a great week and remember the message from Sunday, “Jesus is Coming Again.”

Bro. Tim

1. Congratulations to Linda Slagle, Rachel Slagle, and Tommy Bane on their baptism on Sunday, April 25.

2. We had a great attendance Sunday for the morning worship services. The 8:00 AM has a steady attendance in the 60s while the 10:45 AM service continues to grow in attendance. In order to continue to provide space for additional persons to attend, I invite and encourage those in the 10:45 AM service to consider trying the 8:00 AM service. The music and message are the same in both services. This is a great challenge to have, needing additional space for the worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let’s do all we can to allow God to continue using us to reach this community for Christ.

3. With many new people coming to FBC Carthage we are in need of an expanded Greeters’ Ministry before Sunday School. This ministry would have greeters at the entrance doors and at a central location. The greeters will welcome each person, give information, and provide assistance in locating age-appropriate classes. If you would like to be a part of this ministry of hospitality on Sundays from 9:15-9:35 AM send a response back to this e-news or see Bro. Tim or Bro. Zeke.

4. Pray for Zeke and Layne Tomaselli as they move to Carthage on Saturday, May 1. If you can help with their move please contact the church office or see Bro. Tim.

5. This Saturday, May 1 is also a community-wide rally at the Courthouse from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. We will have a space for balloon animals, face painting and information about FBC Carthage. If you can help with this community mission effort contact the church office.
