FBC Carthage E-News
May 24, 2010
Good morning,
It is a beautiful morning here in Carthage, Tennessee. As I said yesterday in the services, I am glad to be back home. The week in Seminary classes at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia was a great learning experience as we studied several aspects of pastoral leadership. Thank you for praying for me during the week.
I have heard good reports from the Youth Block Party last Thursday. Zeke reports that over 100 youth and leaders joined together for this event to kick-off the summer of youth opportunities. Other events for the youth this summer are:
· ReFuel 2010 June 2-5
ReFuel 2010 is four days of worship, fun and service to the community. Each morning we will gather for an inspirational time of worship and devotion in the Christian Life Center. From there the youth will divide into work groups as they go into the community for projects which will be of service to others. The evening will conclude with a fun time of games and activities. There is no cost to the students, grades 7-12, for ReFuel 2010. It’s like a summer missions experience right here in Smith County. Everyone is invited, so bring your friends.
· Youth Music Camp will be June 24-26 and will focus on music, drama, and creative aspects of worship. Lynn Sharenberger and Zeke Tomaselli will be leading this camp which will meet at First Baptist Carthage.
· Youth Camp at Orange Beach, Alabama will be June 28-July 2. We have 28 signed up to go and there are still a few spots open. This will be a highlight of the summer for the youth. Thanks to all who helped with the Crock-Pot Cook-off yesterday. There were over $1000 in donations received. If you would like to invest in the lives of our students there are still opportunities and need. Donations and scholarships will be received through the camp week. See Zeke or designate your donation for Youth Camp 2010 and send it to the church office.
Have a blessed week as you serve the Lord.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the week:
1. Sunday, May 30 will be our next opportunity to host the Associational Campground Service at Defeated Creek Campground Pavilion. The service begins at 8:30 PM and Phillip Slagle will be sharing. If you would like to join in the service you can come a few minutes early to help greet the campers as they attend.
2. Also on Sunday, May 30 we will have a church-wide picnic at Defeated Creek Picnic Pavilion beside the basketball and volleyball courts. We will begin gathering at 5:00 PM and plan to share in a pot-luck picnic at 5:30 PM. The church will provide the soft drinks for the picnic.
3. A meeting for the Mission Montana team will be Sunday, May 30 at 4:00 PM. We will meet at the Defeated creek Picnic Pavilion prior to the church-wide picnic.
