FBC Carthage E-News for April 5, 2010

FBC Carthage E-News
April 5, 2010

Good Morning,

Wow! That is what yesterday’s celebration was to me. The Easter service at the High School will be a highlight for 2010. I appreciate Zeke, the choir, musicians and everyone who helped make the service so special. I especially want to thank Vann Fields and Julie Cannon for sharing their testimonies of the difference Jesus has made in their lives. Most of all, I want to thank and praise Jesus Christ who is the center and focus of all we say and do. The Easter service was all about Jesus and the difference He has made and will make in the lives of people who believe and follow Him.

This week as you talk to teachers and administrators of Smith County High School, be sure and thank them for the use of the school auditorium for the Easter service. Also, please thank the School Board members for approving our request. It was a great blessing to be able to gather together for this special day in the auditorium. If they would ask, we had well over 400 in attendance.

An often overlooked ministry is our preschool workers and I want to say “Thank You” to Kathy Reece and Betsy Broyles for providing this ministry during the service yesterday. As we have more and more babies and preschool children coming to FBC Carthage there will be opportunities for more adults to be involved in this ministry. Thanks to all who minister and touch the lives of these little ones. You are blessed.

I also want to thank those who helped with the Defeated Creek Campground service yesterday. We had 47 persons attend the service. Several of the participants were people from the Defeated community who were looking for a place to worship Jesus on Easter. That is a great mission / ministry opportunity which is coordinated through the New Salem Baptist Association. We will have the blessing of leading several other services throughout the summer.

Have a blessed week and remember to live with victory, the victory we have through faith in Jesus Christ!

Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:
1. This Wednesday, April 7 will be our regular monthly business meeting in the Family Life Center at 6:30 PM. We will hear reports and recommendations from the various ministries of the church.

2. Speaking of Wednesday nights, we have much to offer the entire family each week.
· Supper begins at 5:00 PM and is served until 6:00 PM. The cost is $3 per person with a $10 maximum for families. That’s a great deal, great food and great fellowship.
· Preschool and Children’s choir are meeting at 6:30 PM getting ready for their April 25 program.
· Youth worship begins at 6:00 PM in the Youth room.
· The adults meet in the Family Life Center for Bible study and prayer time. We are presently studying the book of Proverbs.
· The Sanctuary Choir rehearses at 7:00 PM in the choir room. This would be a great time to come and be a part of this important ministry.

3. A new resource for parents of youth is Zeke’s blog to parents. If you have not visited the site I encourage you to click on

4. Speaking of blogs, the FBC Carthage E-News is posted each week at
www.ontheword.blogspot.com. If you miss the weekly e-mail or if you want to refer others to the church information, it is just a click away.

5. The following link with encourage you and brighten your day. It is a video you may have heard before but I believe it is worth listening to more than once. It is entitled, “
That’s My King” and it exalts and lifts you the Lord Jesus Christ. Our main purpose is to exalt Christ in all we say and do and this video does just that. Take a minute and listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upGCMl_b0n4
