FBC Carthage E-News
March 29, 2010
Good morning,
This is a special week for Christians around the world as we reflect and remember the last week Of Jesus’ earthly life before the crucifixion. I encourage you this week to read at least one of the gospel accounts of Jesus’ passion, His betrayal, arrest, trial, death and resurrection. You will find the accounts at:
Matthew 26-28
Mark 14-16
Luke 22-24
John 18-20
I remind everyone of the special Easter celebration service this Sunday, April 4 at 10:00 AM at the Smith County High School Auditorium. The service will be a time of worship and praise to our resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ. The theme of the service and message will be “What a difference a day makes.”
The undesignated offering received Easter Sunday will go toward missions. 75% will go to the Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions and 25% will go to the Smith County Help Center for the Backpack Meals Program. Regular Offerings given in a church envelope will go toward the church budget.
Everyone is asked and encouraged to invite at least one person/family to come to the Easter celebration service. Easter Sunday is the day everyone thinks about attending a worship service. This is the week to invite someone. This is the week to hand them the invitation card from yesterday’s bulletin and say, “Will you attend with me?” They will say “Yes” if we will be willing to ask. For a humorous encouragement, click on http://www.sermonspice.com/product/31429/easter-invitation.
Speaking of inviting people to the Easter service, we will have a special Easter invitation blitz to the homes of our community this Saturday, April 3 at 10:00 AM. Let’s meet at the church and pick up assignments and invitation cards. Then we’ll plan to have a picnic together around 11:30 AM at the City Park if the weather is nice. The church will bring soft drinks and water for everyone.
For an early Easter mission service, we will be having the 8:30 AM service at the Defeated Creek Campground. I invite you to come out for this time with the campers. We will be finished around 9:00AM to give time to get back for the Easter celebration service at the High School.
This is Easter week. Let’s spend some extra time with the Lord. Let’s spend some extra effort for the Lord. Let’s reach out in a special way to others this week.
Jesus is risen!
Bro. Tim
