FBC Carthage E-News
March 22, 2010
Good Morning,
“What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought, since Jesus came into my heart. I have light in my soul for which long I had sought, since Jesus came into my heart.”
I thought about this hymn today and the joy we have in our lives as Christians because we have placed our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. That is what this Easter season is all about. That is why we have peace/light in our souls and joy in our hearts. Jesus is alive and working within us as believers. That is something to celebrate.
Speaking of celebration, we will have our Easter Celebration Service on Easter Sunday, April 4 at 10:00 AM at the Smith County High School Auditorium. I am looking forward to this great day of celebrating Jesus’ resurrection and the victory He gives. We will not have Sunday School classes that Sunday to give everyone the opportunity to come and join in the service. Invite friends, family, and neighbors to come for this special service.
I had a conversation yesterday in which we were discussing people’s openness to come to church on Easter. There seems to be an internal desire on the part of most people that they should come at least on Easter. Let’s make sure they receive an invitation to join us at the High School Auditorium at 10:00 AM for Easter. There may be some people who will come to the High School Auditorium who would not come to our church or any church. Let’s do all we can to encourage them to attend and then let’s all do our best to make the people who come feel welcome. Easter is one day I want us to focus totally on Jesus and His resurrection.
Another opportunity we have on Easter Sunday, April 4 is to have the service at Defeated Creek Campground at 8:30 AM. I am looking forward to being a part of this service and sharing the good news of the resurrection with the campers. We need people to come and bring coffee and light refreshments for the service. Let me know if you can be a part of this special mission effort.
Have a blessed week as you think about the cross of Jesus Christ and thank God for what the cross means to you.
Bro. Tim
