August 3, 2009
Good Morning,
This is a great day to be alive and serving the Lord, Jesus Christ in Tennessee. I hope you have had a wonderful summer and feel the excitement of the children, parents, and teachers as they begin a new year in school. Public schools in Smith County begin tomorrow with their first full day. Pray for the children and teachers as they get started in their class-work. Pray for the principals and administrators as they oversee the details of school life. I believe this is going to be a great school year in Smith County.
A special thank goes to everyone who served last week in the Fair Booth. We had great participation each night, even Tuesday with all the rain and bad weather. The Fair Booth is a great way to meet people from the community and invite them to get to know us at First Baptist. This year there seemed to be many more people who would stop and enter into conversation with the workers at the booth. Let us pray that the seeds that were sown will bear much fruit in their lives.
Congratulations to all who won awards at the Fair. First Baptist was well represented in many areas. As a proud Pastor and dad I want to say a special congratulations to our four Pageant winners:
Amanda Eatherly won the Fairest of the Fair Pageant.
Sara Frank, my daughter, won the Teen Fairest of the Fair Pageant.
Peyton Jackson won the Junior Fairest of the Fair Pageant.
Grace Winfree won the Petite Fairest of the Fair Pageant.

We had a wonderful baptism service yesterday afternoon as we baptized Amelia Shoemake and Peyton Daigre in Plunkett’s Creek. There is something special about an outdoors service and baptism in a creek. Thanks to all who came out for this service.
Have a great week and remember to pray for the students and teachers.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the News:
1. The Teacher’s Luncheon was a great success with over 160 teachers and administrators from the schools in attendance. A special thanks to Melody Tackett and the many volunteers who joined together to make the event a great success. Even with the large number, everyone was able to walk in and sit down to their meal with little or no delay.
2. AWANA had a great start last night with 52 children and youth and 28 workers. The new AWANA youth class had eight for its first night! This will be our best year yet for the ministry of AWANA. Thank you John Eldridge, AWANA Commander, and all the workers for your ministry to the children and youth. A special time of prayer for AWANA will be held each Sunday afternoon at 5:00 PM in the FLC with parents, workers and others.
3. All adults are invited to the Sunday Evening Services each week at 5:30 PM in the Sanctuary. While the children and youth are in AWANA we will join together and study God’s Word as well. This Sunday night, Kenny Stevens, former missionary to Siberia, Russia will be our special guest preacher.
