FBC Carthage E-News for December 6, 2021

FBC Carthage E-News

December 6, 2021

I pray everyone is safe after the storms passed by this morning.  If you or those around you have needs, please contact Bro. Tim or Paul or call the church office at (615) 735-1929.

The 2021 “Coats for the City” in New York City was a huge success.  Our team carried five large suitcases and a large box full of coats.  We had approximately 100 coats and the Bridge Community Church had received almost 500 coats from their ministry partners. The event began at 8:00 AM on Saturday and was completed by 11:00 AM.  The coats blessed over 100 families in the Queensbridge Housing Community.  Thank you for your prayers, donations of coats, and support of this effort.    It is a blessing to go and share in different locations, but it is always good to be back home.  Pictures are posted on the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page and a picture video on the fbcarthage Youtube channel.

A special “Thank You” to Paul Stouder as he preached yesterday in my absence and covered several ministerial duties during the weekend.  We are blessed to have him and his family.

We continue in the Advent Season with the Christmas Theme:  “Sing to the King.”   Embrace the season as we celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.  Focus on the meaning this season has for you.  Involve your family in the special services that exalt Jesus.  Prepare a special gift in honor of Jesus’ birth.  Sing to the King.   Click this link to hear the theme song for the Christmas season.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biLCWOXgI2Q

A new resource we offer is a playlist on Youtube of the worship music we are using in the services each week.  Use this resource as an aid in your daily time of worship, Bible reading, and prayer.  Christmas is a season of singing.  The playlist is at fbcarthage which you can access at :  https://www.youtube.com/user/fbcarthage

The Lighthouse Camp Christmas Party for boys will be December 11 at Lighthouse Christian Camp, 205 Serenity Place, Smithville, Tennessee.  All types of items are being collected for the children to select and give to their families for Christmas.  To volunteer, meet in the church parking lot at 8:00 AM or simply go to Lighthouse Camp around 8:30 AM.  The activities are in the Gym.

We are currently receiving the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions, our yearly missions offering for the Southern Baptist Missionaries around the world.  This is our largest special offering for the year and reflects the great importance of our missionary efforts.  This year’s goal is $19,000.  Everyone is asked to give a generous offering for world missions and then the church will give the entire offering on Christmas Sunday, December 19.

Tonight, Monday, December 6 will be the Women on Missions meeting at 6;30 PM at the home of Marreet Hutchins, 649 Carmack Avenue.

Please pray for the Pregnancy Help Center as it actively searches for a new Part-Time Director.  This position is 20-25 hours per week and directly works with the clients, donors, volunteers, and board to carry out the mission of the Center.  For more information, contact Bro. Tim Frank at (931) 261-8452.
