FBC Carthage E-News for December 13, 2021

FBC Carthage E-News

December 13, 2021

On behalf of myself, Pastor Paul, and all the church staff, we say “Thank You” for the generous Christmas gift.  It is a blessing to serve and be remembered in such a generous way.

Please pray for the storm victims from last week’s two major storms.  It is so sad to see the devastation and hear of the enormous loss of life that has affected so many people in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas and other nearby states.

This Sunday, December 19 is Christmas Sunday as we celebrate and sing to the King.  As we celebrate King Jesus’ birthday I encourage everyone to give a special offering in honor of His birth.  The entire offering this special Sunday will go to share the message of hope and peace to the nations of the world.  The Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions is our yearly missions offering for the Southern Baptist Missionaries around the world.  This is always the largest special offering for the year and reflects the great importance of our missionary efforts.  This year’s goal is $19,000.  Everyone is asked to give their regular tithes and then be extra generous for the work of the International Mission Board.  Every penny goes directly to the missionaries and their work throughout the nations.  May we pray, give, and go until every person has opportunity to hear the message of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Make your plans to attend the Christmas Eve Service at 5:00 PM.  We will have candlelight, carols, special Christmas music, and a Christmas message.  Invite your family and friends to come with you as we remember and celebrate Jesus’ birth.

We are actively seeking the Live Streaming issue that has limited our online services for the past two weeks.  Please be patient as we work to have it back up and running for Sunday.  If anyone asks, please let them know we are aware and working to correct the issue.

The daily Bible reading booklets for December are available in the Connection Point and front foyer.  You can also find them online and as a daily e-mail to your Inbox at:  https://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/biblepathways/

The RightNow Media Video series of the week is “NUA: Christmas.”  NUA:Christmas explores the why behind the glitz and glam of Christmas, considering how the first Christmas fits with the narrative of the Jewish faith. The Jewish people had been awaiting a Savior for thousands of years since his coming was foretold in the Garden of Eden. All signs were pointing towards this unique moment in recorded history but when it arrived it was nothing like what they were expecting! We eagerly look forward to Christmas each year, but that wasn’t the case for most people for the very first Christmas! It was certainly a big surprise for Jesus’ mum Mary to find out she would be the mother of the Messiah. Join Sarah Campbell, Darren Bourke and Mark Murray on a very unique and entertaining journey that highlights the true meaning of Christmas.  Check out the trailer for this fun look at the meaning of Christmas: https://app.rightnowmedia.org/en/player/video/467310?session=467322
