Merry Christmas!
This is the celebration
week of the year as the countdown to Christmas is completed. As families gather and gifts are exchanged,
let us remember and share in our gatherings the true meaning of Christmas. Here are the basic scripture passages the
present the birth of Jesus. I encourage
you to get a cup of coffee or tea, sit down in a comfortable chair, and read
these scriptures. Reflect on the
simplicity and the transcendence of this wonderful story. A simple carpenter and his betrothed
wife. Country shepherds watching their
flocks. Wisemen from the East. Most importantly the baby Jesus, laid in a
manger. Hear again the good news of great
joy which is to all people, the Savior is born.
Luke 1:26-56 Mary
Matthew 1:18-25 Joseph
Luke 2:1-7 Trip
to Bethlehem
Luke 2:8-20 Shepherds
Matthew 2:1-12 Wisemen
Make your plans to attend the Christmas Eve
Service at 5:00 PM. We will have
candlelight, carols, special Christmas music, Communion, and a Christmas
message. Invite your family and friends
to come with you as we remember and celebrate Jesus’ birth.
The Live Streaming for our services is working
again and we have confidence that the problem has been corrected. Thank you for your patience in this important
tool of ministry. We will plan to have
the Live Stream of the Christmas Eve Service this Friday, December 24 at 5:00
PM.
During the month of December we have been receiving
our special offering for the International Mission Board of the Southern
Baptist Convention. We have almost 4,000
missionaries serving around the world to share the message of Jesus
Christ. Please pray for our missionaries
as they are away from family during this Christmas season. If you have not had a chance to give a special
“Birthday Gift” to Jesus, you can text the word “Lottie” to 615-492-8661.
We will have Sunday School and Morning Worship
on Sunday, December 26 at the normal times.
We will not have the Sunday Evening Service that day. Enjoy the time with your family.
