Happy Thanksgiving!

This is a special week as we focus on Thanksgiving and the blessings of this past year.  I remind each one to live a life of Thanksgiving, not just during this week, but all year long.   Begin this week in making or reviewing the list of people in your life for which you are thankful.  Also, make or review your list of the things you are thankful for and circle the ones that are eternal, such as the love of God, grace, forgiveness, etc,  Take some extra time in prayer this week, expressing to God your thanks to Him.

The Operation Christmas Child Collection ends today, November 22.  Ladies will be in the  CLC from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM to receive the final boxes.  Thank you to all those who have participated in this great effort to touch the lives of children around the world.  Pray for the boxes as they are processed, shipped, and delivered to the children.  Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to use this effort to bring boys and girls to saving faith through Jesus Christ.  It’s more than a box of toys, it’s a bridge to carry the gospel and life transformation.

We will not have Wednesday night services this week as many prepare for Thanksgiving events.  We will, however, be making and delivering Thanksgiving boxes on Wednesday morning, November 24 at 9:00 AM to families in Smith County.  Simply come to the CLC and be a part of a family’s Thanksgiving.

We have received approximately 60 packages (1-2 pounds) of ground venison as part of the Hunters for the Hungry project in Smith County.  If you, or someone you know needs some food, contact Bro. Tim or call the church office at (615) 735-1929.

This Sunday, November 28 is the Annual Carthage Christmas Parade at 4:30 PM.  We will host hot chocolate and coffee for the community and have our annual “Singing on the Steps.”  Everyone is asked to join us on the church steps as we sing Christmas carols in the community.  We will finish before the parade gets to the church in order to join in the festivities.

This is the final week to bring coats for our annual “Coats for the City” distribution on December 3-5 in New York City.  We will be working with the Bridge Community Church.  You can drop your coats off at the Connection Point behind the Sanctuary through Sunday, November 28.

Lighthouse Camp Christmas Parties will be December 4 and 11 at Lighthouse Christian Camp in Smithville.  All types of items are being collected for the children to select and give to their families for Christmas.

Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions is our yearly missions offering for the Southern Baptist Missionaries around the world.  This is our largest special offering for the year and reflects the great importance of our missionary efforts.  This year’s goal is $19,000.  Everyone is asked to give a generous offering for world missions and then the church will give the entire offering on Christmas Sunday, December 19.

The Pregnancy Help Center is actively searching for a new Part-Time Director.  This position is 20-25 hours per week and directly works with the clients, donors, volunteers, and board to carry out the mission of the Center.  For more information, contact Bro. Tim Frank at (931) 261-8452.
