FBC Carthage E-News for November 1, 2021

FBC Carthage E-News

November 1, 2021

Good Morning,

Thank you for the generous gift for Pastor Appreciation.  I am thankful for you and for such a caring, loving, and encouraging congregation.  It is a joy to serve as your Pastor.

The morning worship service was awesome this past week.  If you missed, I encourage you to go to First Baptist Church Carthage on Facebook  or on fbcarthage on YouTube.  Praise the Lord!

I remind you of the Thanksgiving Challenge.  Make a list of those who have impacted your Christian life and express your appreciation and thanksgiving for the difference they made in your life.  Full details in the message from yesterday on Facebook and Youtube.

The Trunk or Treat was a huge event with over 400 people in attendance.  Thank you to all who decorated cars, brought candy, cooked food, and helped in any way.  It was so much fun to see the community come and participate.  Check out the fun video made of the special event:  https://youtu.be/_Qncdtetxhg

We also had a lot of fun handing out candy and bottle water on Sunday night as Trick or Treaters came by the church by the hundreds.  We gave away over 400 water bottles and many bags of candy.  Thank you to those who served in this special evening.

The 2021 Pregnancy Help Center Banquet was the largest attendance 0f almost 140 people and raised over $14,000.  A special thanks to those who cooked and those who served the food.  It was delicious and served in record time.

Reminder:  This Saturday evening is Time Change.  Fall Back.  Set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed.  You may want to set them back in the afternoon on Saturday to get a little used to the new time before Sunday morning.  For example, 3:00 PM would become 2:00 PM.

Bring your extra winter coats for our coat drive for New York City.  We will have a team travel for the annual “Coats for the City” distribution on December 3-5.  We will be working with the Bridge Community Church.  You can drop your coats off at the Connection Point behind the Sanctuary.  If you are interested in being a part of the team or helping sponsor a team member please contact Bro. Tim.

The Church Council and Deacons will meet this Sunday, November 7 at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM respectively.

Looking Ahead:  The Church-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner will be Sunday, November 21 at 5:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  This meal will be covered dish with everyone bringing salads, vegetables, and especially desserts to go along with turkey and dressing.

The daily Bible reading booklets for November are available in the Connection Point and front foyer.  You can also find them online and as a daily e-mail to your Inbox at:  https://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/biblepathways/

The RightNow Media video series of the week is “Angels and Demons.”   Coming out of  Halloween you may have questions about the spirit world.  Are angels real?  What about demons.  The Bible teaches both are real and both intersect with us in this world.  Check out this series to better understand the parallel universe of angels and demons.  Session 1 begins with “The Heavenly Choir.”  https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/1174

If you are new to Rightnow Media, you will need to sign up to be able to view the resources at RightNow Video.  Simply go to: https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Account/Invite/cfbc.
