FBC Carthage E-News for October 11, 2021

FBC Carthage E-News

October 11, 2021

Good Morning,

The 2021 Trunk or Treat will be Wednesday, October 27 from 5:30-7:30 PM.  We will have inflatables, food, and a lot of candy.  The theme is “Truths from the Bible:  Tis so Sweet.”  The goal is to have many more cars decorated and handing out candy.  Everyone is asked to invite family, friends, and neighbors for this delightful evening together.  Help spread the word!  We are also in need of candy to distribute and ask everyone to bring individually wrapped candies and place them in collection bins in the Connection Point.

Attention Parents:  Children’s Choir is starting this Wednesday, October 13 at 6;30 PM for children kindergarten through 6th grade.  Bring your children and join in the fun and excitement of Children’s Choir.  Just a reminder, the church offers meals on Wednesday nights from 5:00 – 6:00 PM to help with busy schedules.  This Wednesday we are having lasagna!  The gym is also open during the dinner hour for the children to play.

Bring your extra winter coats for our coat drive for New York City.  We will have a team travel for the annual “Coats for the City” distribution on December 3-5.  We will be working with the Bridge Community Church.  You can drop your coats off at the Connection Point behind the Sanctuary.  If you are interested in being a part of the team or helping sponsor a team member please contact Bro. Tim.

The GriefShare Support Group will be discussing one of the most asked questions in grief, “Why?”  If you are struggling with the “Why” question, join us this Tuesday evening, October 12 at 6:00 PM in the Christian Life Center.  There is no cost for you to attend this one session or to join us for the remainder of the semester.  This is your grief support group to help in the needs and hard questions of life.

The Annual Meeting of the New Salem Association of Baptists will be this Sunday, October 17 at 2:00 PM at Riddleton Baptist Church.  We are blessed to be a part of these ten churches as we work together in ministering to the spiritual needs in Smith County.  Our messengers are elected and encouraged to attend the session.  All others are welcome and invited to attend as guests.

The Annual Pregnancy Help Center Fundraising Banquet will be on Thursday, October 28 at the Ag Center.  We still have six seats still available.   If you are interested in this ministry, contact Bro. Tim or the church Office to reserve your seat.  Our church is preparing, serving, and sponsoring the meal.

Our church offers text giving by texting a keyword to (615) 492-8661.  To give to the General Budget, text the keyword “offering”.  To give to the work of the Pregnancy Help Center, text the keyword “life”.

The daily Bible reading booklets for October are available in the Connection Point and front foyer.  You can also find them online and as a daily e-mail to your Inbox at:  https://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/biblepathways/

The RightNow Media video series of the week is “Dream Big.”  We are standing at the beginning of a new day at FBC Carthage.  The call is to seek the Lord and dream big.  The Lord has gifted and prepared us for carrying His gospel to Smith County, Tennessee, and to the world.  In this five-session video study bestselling author Bob Goff dares to ask the questions: What would you do if opinion, reason, or probability were no objects? What do you deeply desire to do even if it scares you to the marrow of your bones? What were you meant to do even if no other person thinks you should? He shares stories from the Bible that show how God called certain individuals to follow him—regardless of their lack of "qualifications"—and how those people changed the world when they dared to follow God's dreams for their lives. In the same way, God is calling us to step into the version of our lives that he intended for us before others told us it was impossible and once again dream big.  Check out the first session entitled “Get Ready to Dream Big:” https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/511897?episode=1
