FBC Carthage E-News
January 18, 2021
Good Morning,
It was great to be back in the services
yesterday, after being in quarantine for several weeks. I appreciate all those who worked extra hard
to cover for me in my absence. I had
opportunity to tune-in every service while I was out and appreciate the good
messages. It is definitely not the same
as being together in worship, but I am thankful for the technology that allows
the digital church community. Let us
continue to pray for those struggling with Covid and our doctors and nurses as
they care for the most severely affected.
I encourage and ask that we all continue to be
in earnest prayer this week for our nation.
With the Inauguration on Wednesday, the transition to a new Presidential
administration, and the continued unrest and uncertainty, this is the time to
pray. In these days I have realized how
much we need the Lord’s wisdom, strength, and guidance for our lives, our
church, and our nation. We must trust in
the Lord during this time for He is the only One who is completely trustworthy.
I am excited to announce our Sunday School will
begin meeting again this Sunday at 10:05 AM.
We chose to suspend the classes due to concerns of a holiday upswing in Covid
cases. We will continue to monitor the
risks as we seek to regather in our small groups for Bible Study and
Fellowship. Our relationships in Sunday
School are vitally important in our Christian walk.
Speaking of Sunday School, I remind you of a new
resource now available through the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, the Sunday
School Lesson Showcase. Check out each
week’s lesson as Pastor Travis Biller and I share each week’s Sunday School
lessons in the Bible Studies for Life and the Explore the Bible series. To watch these 25-30 minute studies each
week, go to: https://vimeo.com/showcase/7973849
There is no substitute in your growth as a
Christian for daily and systematically reading and studying the Bible. Each year the challenge is given to read the
Bible each and every day. One on the
disciplines I have practiced for many years is to read through the Bible in one
year. Our Bible Reading Plan for 2021 utilizes
monthly Bible Pathways’ Booklets that can be picked up at church just before
the first of each month. These give the
chapters to read and a brief thought from the passages. The daily guide is also available online at: https://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/biblepathways/
One additional convenience is that the daily
reading and devotional are available to come directly to your Inbox each day. Go to the web address above and click on the
“Subscribe” button. There are no good
reasons why a Believer in Jesus cannot spend a few minutes each day with God in
His word.
Here is this week’s Bible readings January 18-25, 2021:
January 18 Exodus 2-4
January 19 Exodus 5-7
January 20 Exodus 8-10
January 21 Exodus 11-13
January 22 Exodus 14-16
January 23 Exodus 17-19
January 24 Exodus 20-22
January 25 Exodus 23-25
January is “Sanctity of Life Month” and we have
Baby Bottles from the Pregnancy Help Center to collect coins, cash, and checks
for our annual offering for the local Pregnancy Help Center. This is an opportunity to stand locally for
the lives of men and women, boys and girls in Smith County. Pick up your bottle this week or use our text
giving by texting the Keyword LIFE to 1 (615) 492-8661.
We began a new series yesterday in the Sunday
Night Worship Service at 6;00 PM. The
series is entitled, “Got Questions?” In
this series we will explore important questions about our faith in Jesus
Christ, as well as, take questions that you have and provide Biblical
answers. To submit a question, simply
send it to timfrank1960@gmail.com
and we will study and seek the answer from God’s word.
The January Business Meeting will be this
Wednesday, January 20 immediately following the 6:30 PM service.
The Right Now Video of the
week is “Life In the Balance.” Life-or-Death
Questions Deserve Life-Giving Answers. Never before
has it been so important for Christians like you to discover the answers God’s
Word holds to our culture’s biggest ethical and social dilemmas. Every day, the
24-hour news cycle offers stories from around the world of unimaginable
physical, mental and emotional suffering. Yet more often than not, these
stories and the underlying problems they represent are reported with no
suggestions for resolution. Can it really be true that there are no solutions
to our world’s biggest crises? Joni
Eareckson Tada refuses to believe it. In
Life in the Balance, Joni and her colleagues take on difficult issues –
abortion, autism, genocide, stem-cell research and others. But they don’t just
tell the stories; they dig deep into the Word of God to find real and lasting
solutions to so-called “unsolvable” problems. Check out this series at: https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/517

Happy
Birthday to our Atlanta mission partners, Kewon Foster. His birthday was yesterday, January 17. It is always good to remember the thousands
of missionaries and mission partners we have throughout the USA and around the
world.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
