FBC Carthage E-News for September 28, 2020

 FBC Carthage E-News

September 28, 2020

Good Morning,

We continue to pray for our nation and will begin a new emphasis during October entitled,  “31 Days of Prayer for My Nation.”  This emphasis will encourage and challenge each member to specifically pray for the country each day.  To help in this endeavor we are providing a prayer booklet written by Ronnie Floyd, Executive Director of the Southern Baptist Convention.  You can pick up a copy of this booklet at the church office this week or at our Wednesday night service at 6:30 PM.  There is nothing we can do that will impact our nation as much as focused, continuous prayer.  During October, let’s talk less and pray more for the issues facing our nation.

Please continue to pray for our Smith County schools, teachers, administrators, and school board.  These are days they need more prayer, not less.  If you haven’t read the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Justice Guidance on Constitutionally Protected Prayer and Religious Expression in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools, check it out online at:  https://www2.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/religionandschools/prayer_guidance.html.  This document outlines the guidelines and rights for students and teachers to express their religious beliefs in the school setting.  Be informed and help others understand the religious rights of students and teachers.

Wednesday night Student Ministry Re-Launch is in full swing as the 7-12 grade students are urged to join Bro. Matt at the FBC Carthage Student Ministry Facebook page at 6:30 PM.  In-person youth group meetings will begin Pass the word and invite your friends to join the Student Ministry Re-Launch!

As we relaunch the Wednesday Student Ministry, we will also be evaluating and planning toward offering Wednesday night meals for individuals and families to eat in the Christian Life Center before the evening activities.  To help us in planning, if you would be interested in coming to eat Wednesday night meals from 5-6 PM,  text the word EAT to 1-615-395-6161 or call the church office at (615) 735-1929.

A new semester of GriefShare is meeting on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM in the Christian Life Center.  Join us on Tuesday nights at 6:00 PM and invite a friend or family member to come with you.

During this regathering time, we will continue to provide access to the text giving option.  You simply text the word GIVE to 1-(615) 492-8661.  The first time you use the electronic giving, you will enter your giving information.  After that, you simply enter the offering you wish to make.

During this month we are receiving the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions.  Across our state, Tennessee Baptists are reaching people with the gospel through many mission endeavors.  Here is the video message from Bro. Randy Davis which we shared in the Sunday service:  https://vimeo.com/438680961

You can give through the special offering envelopes or online by texting the keyword GOLDEN to our online giving platform:  1-(615) 492-8661.

The RightNow Video Series of the Week is entitled, “Jesus in the Secular World.”  In this video series, Ben Pierce combines vivid illustrations from years of front-line ministry with practical Biblical principles for how we can reach the secular world.  Watch for an in-depth understanding of the secular mindset, inspire personal revival, and equip you with practical next steps to engage the secular world with the powerful Gospel message relevantly.  Check out the trailer here:    www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/444818?episode=Trailer

This video resource and all the videos are provided free of charge as a gift from FBC Carthage.

If you are not reading the Bible each day, I invite and encourage you to join us in reading the New Testament.  We begin Matthew’s gospel this Thursday.  Don’t put off reading the Word of God.  For a video encouragement, check out the story I tell on myself on today’s daily devotion at First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page or the fbcarthage Youtube group.
