FBC Carthage E-News for July 6, 2020

FBC Carthage E-News
July 6, 2020

Good Morning,

I trust you had an enjoyable and safe 4th of July celebration.  Whether with friends and family, or by yourself, it is a blessing to celebrate the freedoms and opportunities we have in the United States of America.  Facebook was filled with positive, patriotic messages and videos over the weekend.  As we walk through the current challenges in our nation, I am reminded that America is still the greatest nation.  May we realize the opportunities, privileges, and responsibilities we each have as citizens of the USA.

Please be in prayer for the family of Erlene Robinson, our oldest member, who passed away yesterday.  Her visitation will be today from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Sanderson Funeral Home.  The family will have a private graveside service on Tuesday.  Mrs. Erlene was a faithful, loyal member of FBC Carthage for many years.

The church leadership and deacons met yesterday and discussed the upcoming weeks as we begin to look toward the Fall and the new Sunday School/Church Year.  Please continue to pray for wisdom and timing as we move forward in the ministries and activities of the church.  We will continue in our present schedule through July and hope to see additional ministries begin again in August.

All four weekly services are open for in-person attendance, as well as Live Stream to the Digital Church Community services through fbcarthage YouTube Channel and the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page.

Here is the current edition of the Children’s Virtual Adventure Bible Club.  Take time to watch this video and complete the challenge with your children and grandchildren.  A new episode will be posted on the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page on Tuesday.  Here is the current week’s adventure:  https://www.facebook.com/childrensvirtualadventureclub/videos/799142747285325/UzpfSTE1NDU2MDU5NDc0OTA2MToxMzcwODg0NjEzMTE2NjQ3/

This Summer we are collecting items for three local mission efforts.  We have just completed  collecting diapers and wipes for the Smith County Pregnancy Help Center.  This next Sunday, July 12, we will bring cleaning supplies for the Emmanuelle House Women’s Shelter.  Bring your donations and drop them off in the containers provided in the church foyer and Connection Point.

The RightNow Video Series of the Week is “Uncommon Marriage” with Tony and Lauren Dungy.  What does it take to build a marriage that will last? Tony and Lauren have together known the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. They fell in love, built a family, and made sports history when Tony became the first African American head coach to win the Super Bowl. Yet they've also gone through difficult, relationship-testing setbacks, including job loss and devastating personal tragedy.  Click here:   https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/1217?episode=2

Remember, you have to sign up to be able to view the resources at RightNow Video.  Simply go to: https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Account/Invite/cfbc.
This video resource and all the videos are provided free of charge as a gift from FBC Carthage.

The weekly Sunday School lesson videos will return this week.  We will post them on Facebok toward the end of the week and on E-News next Monday.

The Women on Missions meeting at Peyton’s Creek Baptist Church for this week has been canceled.

Here is a possible opportunity to serve the community and work a few days in the coming months.  Smith County Needs Election Workers!  Smith Election Commission is calling on residents of Smith County willing to serve as poll workers for the August 6, 2020 election.  More people than ever before are eligible to work as a poll official.  State, county or municipal employees along with anyone 16 years of age or older can now serve as poll officials. This is also a great opportunity for anyone looking for temporary work and for students who need volunteer hours for the Tennessee Promise program.  The county election commission will provide training for any new poll officials before the election.  Poll workers are compensated for working and attending training.  A worker may also volunteer their time, if preferred.  Anyone who is interested in working should call the Smith County Election Office at 615-735-8241 or email your contact information to us at jillg.smithelection@gmail.com.

On a personal note, Happy 38th Anniversary to my wife, Fran Frank.  We were married on July 10, 1982.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
