FBC Carthage E-News
June 15, 2020
Good Morning,
This morning I am reminded
of the importance and power in prayer.
The daily Bible reading plan is in Psalms. David proclaims the goodness, faithfulness,
and strength in the Lord. Psalm 18:3
says, “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be
saved from my enemies.” In the midst of
all that is happening in our country, our hope is 100% in the Lord Jesus
Christ. Spend time today crying out to the One who can bring peace, healing,
and forgiveness to our land. In every
conversation, text, email, and post that moves to the subject of riots, violence, injustice or virus, point to
Jesus as the Savior. Do not live in
fear, anxiety, or worry. Live in the trust
of the Lord.
Just a reminder that this
Sunday, June 21 is Father’s Day. We will
recognize our fathers and have a special word of prayer for them in both
morning services. We will not have the evening
service this Sunday to allow families time to be together.
This week we are moving
into Phase 2 of our Re-Gathering as we begin Preschool care for babies through
4 year olds during the morning worship services this Sunday, June 21. We are enlisting workers to serve in the
Preschool area on a rotating basis during both morning worship services. If you will help be a part of this important ministry
please contact Kathy Reece, Elizabeth Davis, Bro. Tim or Bro. Matt. You can also call the Church Office (615.735.1929)
and we will contact you. This is our
next major step in the process. I have included
at the end of this E-News the guidelines and protocols for parents, check-in,
and care of the children.
I remind you that Sunday
morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night services are open for in-person
attendance. We will continue to sit with
the same social distancing plan used in all of the services. Sunday morning services are offered at 9:00
and 10:45 AM. Sunday night begins at 6:00
PM and Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. We
also continue to Live Stream the services at the fbcarthage Youtube Channel and
the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page.
I hope you are enjoying the Children’s Virtual
Adventure Bible Club with your children and grandchildren. Matthew Lynn is doing a great job as our
Summer Children’s Intern to have the Bible study and weekly adventures with the
children. Here is the link to last week’s
adventure: https://www.facebook.com/childrensvirtualadventureclub/videos/604173740452247/UzpfSTE1NDU2MDU5NDc0OTA2MToxMzU0MDUxNjkxNDY2NjA2/?epa=SEARCH_BOX
This Summer we are
collecting items for three local mission efforts. The first collection will be canned goods and non-perishables for the Smith
County Help Center. Bring your donations
and drop them off in the containers provided in the church foyer and Connection
Point by this Sunday, June 21. The next
collection will be diapers and wipes for the Pregnancy Help Center.
Summer ministry/mission
T-Shirts are in and available in the Connection Point. Stop by the church office this week or pick
one up on Sunday. The t-shirts are
provided to you as a ministry of FBC Carthage.
Plans are being made as we
look forward to the ministry booth at the Smith County Fair, June 29 thru July
4. It will be a little different this
year with social distancing, but we will still have a presence in this community
event. Make your plans to come and serve
with us at the First Baptist Church Ministry Booth.
The RightNow Video Series of
the Week is “Bible Man Animated Series.” This series teaches kids truths from
the Bible in a fun way. In this episode,
“Pulverizing the Plans of the Prince of Pride (An Adventure in Humility), the
Prince of Pride and his dull henchman are turning middle-school Champion
Mathlete Becky Thomas into a painfully proud person. Can the Bibleteam reverse
the effect by using their Containment Protocol Jericho? It's a battle-royal! Bible story: Sit in a lower seat. Key
verse: Luke 14:11
