FBC Carthage E-News
April 27, 2020
Good Morning,
As restaurants and
businesses begin to reopen across our state, we are still operating under the
online-only format in the churches. We
anticipate Governor Lee to give direction and guidelines for meeting again at
church this week. Please pray for the
Governor and all our elected officials as they seek to lead our state and
nation in the safe and proper direction.
This is still the time to maintain good health practices and safe
distancing. As soon as we receive clear
understanding of re-opening the services, we will communicate that with you by
way of a special E-News and Facebook posts.
During this time of
COVID-19 and social distancing, I remind you of the weekly opportunities to connect
to FBC Carthage:
·
The Digital
Church Community Services offered on First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook
page and fbcarthage Youtube channel are our main points of contact, worship,
and message each week. The times of our
regular, live, online Digital Church Community Services are:
Sunday
Mornings at 10:45 AM
Sunday
Evenings at 6:00 PM
Wednesday
Evenings at 6:30 PM
·
Good Morning
Devotions: These daily devotions by Bro
Tim Frank are posted to the First Baptist Church Carthage Facebook page each
morning. Originally made just for the
employees at Riverview Regional Medical Center, these are now shared with a
wider group to offer morning encouragement and prayer.
·
Sunday School
lessons online offer study opportunities for Bible Studies for Life and the
Bible Book Study. Here are the lessons
for yesterday, April 26:
Bible Studies for Life with Bro. Tim Frank
Bible Book Series with Bro. Travis Biller
·
The Tennessee
Baptist Mission Board is offering a 24 hour/7 day a week Prayer Line. This prayer line is open and available to you
to share a request with a person and have prayer together. If you would like to pray with someone, 24/7,
simply call (844) 600-8262. Try it
today.
I ask and encourage you to
pray specifically for the doctors, nurses, and health care workers in the
hospitals, doctor‘s offices, nursing homes and any other medical location. Also, please pray for wisdom and God’s
guidance to our elected officials, from the local Mayors, to the Governor, to
the President. They have the burden and
responsibility to oversee and guide this nation. The most important thing we can do is pray
for them. Here is a suggestion for us
all: Post less. Pray more. It may still be a while before all is open and
back to a “new normal”. Prayerfully, we
are beginning to move in that direction.
Pray for those who are making such important decisions.
Even after we get back to
in-person services, our Digital Church Community services will continue to be
shared each Sunday and Wednesday online through Facebook and YouTube. Past services and special posts are always
available on Facebook and YouTube and can be viewed and/or shared at any time.
If you would like to
communicate directly with Bro. Tim, know of needs in the congregation, or have
suggestions for ways to make the online services and events more engaging,
please send your thoughts to tfrank@fbccarthage.com.
Thank you for your
faithful giving through this past 6 weeks.
Many have utilized the online giving option, mailed in checks, or
brought your offering by the church office during the week. If you haven’t tried online giving, simply text
the word “Give” on your mobile “smart phone” to 1-615-492-8661. The reply will give
you to clear instructions on how to set up your giving by credit card or debit
card and complete your offering to FBCC. The church will receive your name and
amount of your offering so electronic giving amounts will be included in your
annual contribution statement. If you
choose to mail in your offering, the church address is 409 Main Street N,
Carthage, TN 37030. If you plan to stop
by the church office and drop off your offering, call first to make sure the secretary
is in, (615) 735-1929.
Take some time each day to
reach out to a neighbor, friend, church member and say “Hello. I was thinking of you today. Do you need anything? Are you doing ok?”
The RightNow Video of
the Week is entitled, “The Art of Neighboring.”
In this
four-session series, Pastors Jay Pathak and Dave Runyon help us focus on the
people within our neighborhood and learn what it means to be a good neighbor.
They discuss the importance of pushing through the uncomfortable feelings that
come with communicating, investing in, and caring for the people who live near us.
What would our communities look like if we took Jesus’s command to love our
neighbors as ourselves seriously? Check out the trailer: https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/392825?episode=Trailer
