FBC Carthage E-News for March 30, 2020

FBC Carthage E-News
March 30, 2020

Good Morning,

I encourage everyone to take a few moments today and pray specifically for the doctors, nurses, and health care workers in the hospitals, doctor‘s offices, nursing homes and any other medical location.  With the outbreak in the nursing home in Gallatin and almost 100 people testing positive for the virus, it is obvious  how quickly it can spread.  Pray for those on the front lines and their families.  We have several members in the health field who are in harm’s way and we need to pray for them.

The Digital Church Community services online continue to do well as we worship together through Facebook and YouTube.  Thank you to all who joined in the services online.  I remind you that the services are posted on Facebook and YouTube and can be viewed and/or shared at any time.  If you have suggestions for ways to make the services more engaging, please send your thoughts to tfrank@fbccarthage.com.

Our live, online Digital Church Community Services are:
Sunday Mornings at 10:45 AM
Sunday Evenings at 6:00 PM
Wednesday Evenings at 6:30 PM
Each service will feature a different message and updated information for the congregation.

The church leadership met yesterday by Zoom for a virtual meeting and discussed the immediate plans as we for move together through this health crisis.  The leadership recommended and approved that we continue on with the Church Digital Community online only format at least through Easter Sunday.  The leadership will meet again that afternoon and discuss the next steps we will take together.  Please pray for all of us as we lead in these days of great challenge and great opportunity.

Here is a video I found on Facebook yesterday from Christian Attorney David Gibbs as he outlines the response of churches in these days of governmental orders, directives, and states of emergency.  May we be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16).  Check it out:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLHIa8GiI5M&feature=emb_title&fbclid=IwAR3cgBZ2pGal5qVd6eNumqz7NHbCmXITzqTrFdrEJRlbUiKOlU9tqx3Mly4

I encourage you to be faithful in your giving during this season.  You may want to consider using the new online giving option and give by using your credit card or debit card.  To set up your online giving, text the word “Give” to 1-615-492-8661. The reply will direct you to a site with clear instructions on how to set up your giving by credit card or debit card and complete your offering to FBCC. The church will receive your name and amount of your offering so electronic giving amounts will be included in your annual contribution statement.  Remember, during this time you can also mail your giving in by check or bring it by the church office during the week.  Call ahead before stopping by the office to make sure someone is in.  The Church Office `is officially closed with the office and ministerial staff working from home.   The Church phone number is (615) 735-1929 and the  address is 409 Main Street N, Carthage, TN 37030.

During these weeks of limited contact we need to stay connected to each other.  Take opportunities to utilize text messages, email, and phone calls to reach out and let someone know you care.  If you discover those with needs, physical, emotional or spiritual, please contact Bro. Tim or Bro. Matt.  Also, if there are members directly affected financially by this crisis, let’s do all we can as a church to help.  Let’s stay in touch.  Talk to people.  Pray with people.  Find unique ways to reach out through the tools available.

RightNow Videos are a great way to spend these days being at home.  There are videos for children , as well as great videos for youth and adults.  This resource is completely free to you.  The church is paying the monthly fee.  This resource can also be given to your friends and families during this time.  One special note, if you have an Apple TV or box you can download the RightNow Video App and watch the videos on your TV.

The RightNow Video of the Week is a fun kid’s series called “The Slugs and Bugs Show.” Join musician Randall Goodgame, Doug the Slug, Sparky the Lightning Bug, Morty and Maggie Raccoon, and a slew of special guests inside the brand-new Slugs & Bugs Workshop. Imaginations are kindled, songs are sung, and hijinks are discovered, along with timeless truths about life and faith. From a producer of VeggieTales, the Slugs & Bugs Show is delightful, quirky, hand-crafted fun for kids of all ages.   Check out the first video in this series:  https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/KidsShow/358519?episode=1

All services are recorded and available anytime on Facebook, search for First Baptist Church Carthage and on Youtube, search for fbcarthage.
·        The Sunday morning service is broadcasted on DTC TV Channels 3 and 303 at 10:30 AM. It is also broadcasted on the radio, 104.1 FM the Ranch radio on Sundays at 10:45 AM.  These broadcasts are prerecorded from previous week’s service.
·        Online giving is set up and available.  TEXT “GIVE” to 1-615-492-8661
Text “Give” to 1-615-492-8661. The reply will direct you to a site with clear instructions how to set up your giving by credit card or debit card and complete your offering to FBCC. The church will receive your name and amount of your offering so electronic giving amounts will be included in your annual contribution statement.  Remember, you can also mail your giving in by check or bring it by the church office during the week.  The Church address is 409 Main Street N, Carthage, TN 37030.
·        An online Bulletin is available on FaceBook at First Baptist Church Carthage.
·        Prepare for the online services by having your Bible, Notebook, and Pen.  Listen, participate, and worship the Lord.  Turn off all other distractions and focus on the service.
·        Bro. Matt Davis will serve as our Digital Pastor during the services.  He will monitor comments and respond as appropriate.  Please, Do not use the comments as a time to chat.  Just like talking in church during the service, do not disrupt others by excessive comments.  Bro. Matt and his wife, Elizabeth will be available for you to call and share with during the Invitation/Decision Time at the end of the services.  We have only two lines so you may get a busy signal or leave a message.
·        It is important to stay in touch with one another during these days.  Call, text, email, and send letters to encourage and strengthen.

Here is a list from the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board on “How to Get the Most from Attending Church Online:”
·        Get out of bed and get dressed.  It will put you in the right mindset for worship.
·        Go through your normal Sunday routine, minus the “hurry up, we’re running late” part.
·        Gather your family together.  Worship is a family activity.
·        Watch the service on your largest screen.  It will feel more like you are “there.”
·        Sing along, loud and bold.  It may feel weird but participation in worship is important.
·        Lean into the message.  Open your Bible, take notes, and say/comment “Amen” every once in a while.
·        Make your home a sanctuary to the worship of God and the exaltation of Christ.
