FBC Carthage E-News for January 22, 2018

FBC Carthage E-News
January 22, 2018

Good Morning,

Pray4TN is a specific program of prayer for neighbors and friends who live around you.  Yesterday, we focused on this resource at the end of the service and encouraged everyone to become a light in their neighborhood through prayer.  There is no cost for this resource and to sign-up, simply go to www.blesseveryhome.com and click the button that says “Sign-Up Now.”  It will ask for your name, email address and a password of your choosing.  Click on “Create Account” and you are in!

A follow-up email will come to your Inbox that will help get you started.  There will be three easy steps to begin:
Step #1:  Enter your address to identify your neighbors and click on “Light in   Neighborhood” as your Role.

Step#2: Your Affiliation is with our church so enter First Baptist Church Carthage, Tennessee and watch for the church’s information to come up.  Click it.

Step #3:  This step sets up your email reminders to pray.  You will choose how many “Neighbor Homes to Adopt” for from 10-100.  I suggest 20 or more.  Then choose how often you wish to receive reminder e-mails; simply choose one day or several during the week.   Click on “Show Me as a Light” if its ok for others in our church group see who are in the program.  By clicking “Welcome New Movers” it adds new neighbors into your prayer circle.  Check and click Terms & Conditions and that’s it.

Enjoy exploring this resource and it’s map of your neighbors, list of the neighbors you will be praying for, and many helpful resources on video and in print.  If you find neighbor information that is not correct you can click on the name and the wrench icon will allow you to update the information.

Today marks the 45th anniversary (January 22, 1973) of one of the deadliest decisions to ever be made by the US Supreme Court, Roe vs Wade.  In this decision abortion was legalized and in the years that have followed, an estimated 60 million babies have been killed.  It is beyond  comprehension that Americans can allow this type of killing to continue for so long.  As we read through the Bible, we have recently read of the Egyptians killing the Hebrew baby boys and we think, “How cruel.”  During Christmas we read of King Herod killing all the baby boys in Bethlehem under two years old and we think, “How barbaric.”  When history records the slaughter of the innocent babies in America, people will look at us and question why it continued so long.  May God forgive us.  Human life is sacred and precious to God.

One way we can make a difference in Smith County is through the work of the Pregnancy Help Center of Smith County.  This month we have been collecting a special Baby Bottle Offering for the Center.  Please bring your bottles this Sunday, January 28 and place on the table in the Connection Point for this special ministry to the unborn, babies, moms, and families.  We will also receive a special offering in the service for those who didn’t have a chance to pick up a baby bottle.  Pray for Alicia Hoffman, the Director of the Pregnancy Help Center.  Also, volunteers are needed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays for this ministry to our community.

Here is the Bible Reading Plan for this week.  To sign-up for these daily readings on your phone or computer, go to www.biblegateway.com/reading-plans and click on “Subscribe” under the Old/New Testament plan.  Then click on "Start this Devotional on January 1, 2018.”   Readings for January 22-28
