FBC Carthage E-News for July 11, 2016

FBC Carthage E-News
July 11, 2016

Good Afternoon,

Matt and I had the opportunity to take 21 highly excited boys from Smith County to Lighthouse Christian Camp in Smithville this morning.  Lighthouse provides a week-long camp for children who might not have the chance to go to camp.  The children come at no cost to them through the generous donations and sponsorship of people across Tennessee.  Many of the boys and girls who attend Lighthouse will profess their faith in Jesus and begin their journey as a follower of Christ.  I am glad we can partner with Lighthouse as they share the gospel through the camp experience.

We had a great Mission Montana Report last night in the Evening Service followed by some delicious homemade ice cream.  Thanks to all who shared and to those who brought the ice cream.  This Sunday Evening Service will be a singing service with several special musical surprises.   The service begins at 6:00PM.

Thank you for the many congratulations on our 34th Wedding Anniversary yesterday.  Marriage is a journey and it has been a blessing to share the journey with Fran.  I hope the message on marriage was helpful to you in your journey.  In the message yesterday morning I mentioned the importance of love and respect in a marriage and referenced a book by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs called “Love and Respect.”  Here is a message he recently brought at Saddleback Church that explores the concept a little deeper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=388ZduTXiws.

The next BIG mission/ministry opportunity will be our booth at the Smith County Fair, July 25-30.  We will need volunteers each night to greet the people as we give our water, make sno-cones, do face painting, and have a photograph booth.  The Sunday School classes are asked to take a night to serve in the ministry booth.  This is always a lot of fun and a good way to visit with our community.

Speaking of missions, pray for Marty and Sheila Dodge as they travel to the country of  Guatemala to share the love and good news of Jesus.

On a sad note, please pray for the family of Tony Fleenor who passed away on Sunday, July 10.  Tony was the Interim Pastor of FBC Carthage prior to my coming as Pastor.  Tony was a good friend and loved to share the message of Jesus.  His funeral service will will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery.   The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 p.m. until service time at the church.

Have a blessed week as you share your story,
Bro. Tim
