FBC Carthage E-News for December 7, 2015

FBC Carthage E-News
December 7, 2015

Good Morning,
This has been a festive weekend with the Lighthouse Camp’s Girls Christmas Party, Advent service, and Carthage Christmas Parade.  This is a wonderful time of the year to be involved in the activities and events of Christmas.  The music, the lights, the special activities all go into making this “the most wonderful time of the year.”  The focus of Christmas is on the Lord Jesus Christ and the purpose for which He came, to save us from our sins.  Everything reminds us of Him and the true Gift of Christmas.

During this Christmas season we are focusing on the work of the International Mission Board and the Southern Baptist Missionaries serving throughout the world.  We are also receiving our largest special offering of the year, the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions.  A we generously give to missions we can be assured that 100% of every dollar given goes to the work of our 4000+ missionaries around the world as they share Christ and make Him known.  All administrative costs come from the money given through the Cooperative Program as we systematically give throughout the year.  If you missed the special videos and information during the week of prayer for International Missions you can check that out at:  http://media1.imbresources.org/files/234/23491/23491-124691.pdf

The Women on Mission and Girls in Action have begun delivering Christmas Cards through the WOM Mission Express.  There is a “mailbox in the Connection Point for you to drop off your cards to members of First Baptist.  The cards are then placed in “mailslots” by last name for you to stop by and pick up. A donation vase is located near the “mailbox”  with proceeds going to the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions.   No stamps are required, just a request for the money you would spend on stamps be given to the Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions.  This is the year to send Christmas Cards to your church family utilizing the WOM Mission Express.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the “Singing on the Steps” last night for the Carthage Christmas Parade.  A special “Thank You” to those who helped with the technical details, coffee, and hot chocolate.  I enjoy the parade much more as share it as a church family.  The more we do together, the closer we become in our connections together.

I mentioned in yesterday’s message that YouVersion Bible App has just had its 200th  million free download.  YouVersion has 1,200+ Bible versions in almost 900 languages.  If you do not have a Bible app on your phone, tablet, computer you can check it out at https://www.youversion.com/.

Be careful to take time to enjoy and celebrate the Christmas season as it rushes by.  With all the activities it can become a tangled blur of events, parties, presents, and dinners.  This is the season of “peace on earth, goodwill toward men.”  Slow down and experience it.  Christmas 2015 will only happen this year.  Don’t miss it.  January and the New Year will be here soon enough.  These are the days we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

On a personal note, I congratulate my daughter, Sara Frank, as she graduates this Saturday from Tennessee Tech with a BS in Marketing.

Have a blessed week as you thank God for Jesus, THE Light that shines in the darkness!
Bro. Tim
