Good Morning and Happy
Groundhog’s Day,
We celebrate odd holidays
when we devote a day to the question, “Will the groundhog see his shadow?” Six more weeks of winter if he does and a
month and a half to spring if he doesn’t, or something like that. Oh well, Happy Groundhog’s Day.
Speaking of celebrating,
fans of the New England Patriots are celebrating the Super Bowl win. We had a great attendance last night in AWANA
for the special activities. We also had
a good attendance in the evening worship service. Although the Seattle Seahawks did not win
the game, here is an inspirational video we showed last night of several of
their players sharing their faith in the Lord.
The video is titled “The Making of a Champion:":
The month of February is
the month we focus on love and remember our Valentine in a special way. In fact, I stopped by McDonald’s this morning
and received a free cup of coffee and a sticker that says, “I Paid with Love.” Any excuse to give away coffee is good for
me. I encourage all of our married
couples to remember your spouse in a special way during these next couple of
weeks. It is important to continue to
share your love with one another, regardless of how long you have been
married. Flowers, a special gift, a
night out at a nice restaurant go a long way in reminding her that she is
special to you.
As part of our February
focus, we will have a special Couple’s Dinner on Friday night, February 13 at
6:15 PM at Nick’s Restaurant in Cookeville. We have a room reserved for our group. A sign-up for dinner will be available in the
Adult classes this Sunday and in the Connection Pointe. If you would like to ride together on the
church bus, we will meet in the parking lot across from the church at 5:15 PM.
In yesterday’s service we
focused on the greatness of God. In
discussing God’s great power, we mentioned Behemoth and Leviathan as the
greatest and fiercest of His creation. I
believe Job 40-41 are two references/descriptions of dinosaurs in the
Bible. The Lord shares these as examples
of His power which Job would be very familiar with. If you would like to research more about
these creatures you can check out articles at www.answersingenesis.org. For example, here is an article I found this
morning that gives more information on Behemoth:
I remind you that we are “Reading
the Bible for Life” in 2015 and following a chronological reading plan. Here is a link to the daily reading plan
which has links you can open for the scripture passages, a study Bible with
extensive notes, and an audio version of the scripture readings which you can
listen:
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
