FBC Carthage E-News
June 9, 2014
Good Morning,
Hopefully we have gotten
to the bottom of our E-News issues and everyone is receiving this e-mail. Come to find out, there has been a new
regulation for group emails to try to reduce SPAM. We have changed our email server and
completed the transfer of our address. I apologize for the inconvenience. E-News is a vital link from FBC Carthage to
you for the events and ministry of the church.
Thank you for reading and staying informed.
Because of the E-News not
making it to many of you for the last couple of weeks, this E-News will have
some of the previous news items to make sure we are all caught up and informed.
The BIG news of the week
is Vacation Bible School this week, June 9-13 from 6:00-8:30 PM each
evening. We have classes for Kindegarten
thru High School. Younger classes are
available for children of the VBS workers.
Everyone is needed to come and be a part of VBS 2014. Of all we do in missions throughout the year,
this week is the premier mission event with the most people involved in
teaching, leading, and helping. The
Mission Carthage VBS Team 2014 (That’s a great mission team name.) has over 50
people serving and ministering to the children of Smith County! If you are not yet signed-up simply come
tonight and see Rhonda Etheridge or Kristina Hall, our VBS Directors and they
will be glad to find a place for you.
Help spread the word to the children you know about VBS this week at
First Baptist Church Carthage.
Summer is into full swing and
we welcome Anna Maxwell as she serves this summer as our Ministry Intern. One of these ministry opportunities is the
Backyard Bible Club each Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 PM in the Project Circle
Community Room. Anna will need people to
help with the activities and meal each week so there are many opportunities to
serve. We had two great Backyard Bible
Clubs last week at Project Circle and Defeated Creek
Our first summer mission
trips to Cincinnati was a great time of ministry, fellowship, and missions. The team conducted a Backyard Bible Club at
McCelvey Road Baptist Church. Check the
church FaceBook page for pictures of the trip.

This Sunday, June 15 is
Father’s Day and we will have a special gift for every man present. There is a great need in our church, our
city, our state, our nation for men to step up and be Godly men and fathers. One of the reasons for the moral and
spiritual decline in our nation over the past 60 years is the increase in
absent and non-involved dads. It’s time
for Christian men to be the role models for their sons and examples for their
daughters of a man of God. Dads, this is
our time to make a difference in the lives of the families God has given us to
lead. Lead forth in Godly living. Lead forth in church attendance and
faithfulness. Lead forth in mission and
ministry involvement. Lead forth in the
eternal things that affect your children and grandchildren for eternity.
John Etheridge led the
Defeated Creek Campground Service this past Sunday, June 8 and had 10 campers
attend the service. We will host and
lead one of the services each month for the campers.
This is the summer to share
the good news of Jesus with others.
Let’s all join in and be involved.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the
week:
1.
The new church
ministry t-shirts have been a great success.
Many of the sizes are already all gone and a re-order is taking
place. We intend to provide a shirt for
everyone to wear throughout the summer and year as a witness to the Lord Jesus
Christ and as a representation of FBC Carthage.
Wear them as you minister in the many different projects and mission
efforts this summer. Wear them as you
are out and about in the course of your life.
Pick one up for your whole family at the Connection Point.
2.
The greatest mission/ministry event of the
entire year is Vacation Bible School which starts today, June 9. Invite the children in your neighborhood to
attend this year’s VBS, June 9-13. In
fact, stop what you are doing and call someone right now to join you tonight at
Vacation Bible School.
3.
We are collecting
small toys during the month of June for the Mission Montana Team to take with
them to Poplar. Collection boxes will be
available at the Connection Point to bring your toys.
