FBC Carthage E-News
June 2, 2014
Good Morning,
I hope this E-News finds
its way to your Inbox. We had several
who did not receive their copy last week.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
We are not sure what happened but hopefully it is resolved. If you have not received E-News by Monday
afternoon/Tuesday morning of any week, please send us an e-mail and let us
know. Please note, on Holiday weekends
we may not send it out until Tuesday due to the office being closed. E-News is a vital link from FBC Carthage to
you for the events and ministry of the church.
Thank you for reading and staying informed.
Summer is into full swing
as we begin this first week of June.
Anna Maxwell is serving this summer as our Ministry Intern and will be
helping with several projects. One of
these ministry opportunities is the Backyard Bible Club each Tuesday afternoon
at 4:30 PM in the Project Circle Community Room. Anna will need people to help with the
activities and meal each week so there are many opportunities to serve.
This week is also the
first of our summer mission trips. A
team will be traveling to Cincinnati for a Backyard Bible Club at McCelvey Road
Baptist Church. Pray for the team as
they serve Thursday thru Saturday.
Here is a list of the
mission trips and projects available to you this summer. Be involved in some way:

Speaking of missions and
ministry, the most important week of the year is new week as we welcome
children from across the community to Vacation Bible School. This is the premiere opportunity for you to
be involved in missions right here in Carthage as we serve the children and
tell them about Jesus. Vacation Bible
School is June 9-13 from 6:00 – 8:30 PM each evening. Make your plans to be a part of the team and
serve in VBS. Rhonda Etheridge and
Kristina Hall are our VBS Directors and they will be glad to find a place for
you. Help spread the word to the
children you know about VBS 2014 at First Baptist Church Carthage.
A VBS Kick-Off event will
be held on Sunday, June 8 at 6:00 PM. We
will have food and refreshments at 6:00 PM and a special demonstration by Dr.
Dan Swartling, Chemistry Professor from Tennessee Tech. Sunday night will also be a great time to get
the children registered and ready for VBS which starts the following Monday,
June 9.
This is going to be an
awesome summer in sharing the good news of Jesus with others. Let’s all join in and be involved.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the
week:
1.
The June Women on
Missions meeting will be tonight Monday, June 2 at 6:30 PM at the home of
Mildred Westbrook, Jefferson Avenue.
2.
The new church
ministry t-shirts are in and we have one for everyone. These shirts are provided for you by the
church to wear throughout the summer and year as a witness to the Lord Jesus
Christ and as a representation of FBC Carthage.
Wear them as you minister in the many different projects and mission
efforts this summer. Wear them as you
are out and about in the course of your life.
Pick one up for your whole family at the Connection Point. We will be making a re-order of shirt sizes
that are already gone. There is a
sign-up sheet to order your shirt.
3.
The greatest mission/ministry event of the
entire year is Vacation Bible School which starts June 9, two weeks from
today. Preparations are being made,
lessons are being prepared, and invitations are being given. Invite the children in your neighborhood to
attend this year’s VBS, June 9-13. There
will also be a fantastic kick-off event on Sunday, June 8 at FBC Carthage. There are positions still needing people to
serve and we need you. If you haven’t
signed up, it’s not too late. See Rhonda
Etheridge or Kristina Hall for your place on the team.
4.
We are collecting
small toys during the month of June for the Mission Montana Team to take with
them to Poplar. Collection boxes will be
available at the Connection Point to bring your toys.
5.
Bible Pathways
Bible reading guides for June are available in the front foyer and in the
Connection Point.
