FBC Carthage E-News
January 21, 2014
Good Morning!
Many are enjoying a day
off from school and work today in honor and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. We remember his vision and dream of
a united nation no longer divided by racial lines. He had a dream of freedom to all Americans
regardless of their ethnic differences.
Let us remember that equality first began in the person of Jesus Christ
who came to die for the sins of every man, woman, boy, and girl. Jesus loves and offers salvation to “red and
yellow, black and white; they are precious in His sight.” May we as Christians be known as those who
love one another regardless of racial, ethnic, economic, or social
differences. I am always reminded of the
passage in Ephesians 4:32 that says, “And be kind to one
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave
you.”
I have
heard great and exciting reports for the Passion Conference attended this past
weekend by Jeff and five of our college students. I am glad they had the opportunity to be a
part of the conference and to attend North Point Church with Andy Stanley on
Sunday. The dates for Passion Conference
2015 are already on the church calendar for January 2-4. I hope even more of our students will attend.
Yesterday
we focused on the obedience of Noah and the world-wide flood. I am thankful that he was obedient to God
even when his understanding was limited, the task was overwhelming, and the way
was lonely. The human race exists
because he said, “Yes, Lord.” We
mentioned a motion picture called “Noah” which will be released later this
Spring, however, after deeper investigation it was discovered that the biblical
accuracy of the movie is greatly to be questioned. It is disappointing when a biblical story is
twisted by the motion picture industry.
Here is a review from Ken Hamm, speaker and President of Answers in
Genesis Ministries:

Answers
in Genesis is one of many Christian ministries that help share the message of Creation
and its importance in understanding the questions of life. One good resource they offer is a series of
articles that cover a wide range of questions people raise about Creation, the
Flood, and other matters in Genesis.
