FBC Carthage E-News
January 14, 2013
Good morning,
Through the month of
January we are focusing on the Sanctity of Life and receiving a special “Baby
Bottle” offering for the Pregnancy Help Center located at 108 College Avenue
W. The Pregnancy Help Center serves as a
resource for women during their pregnancy and as an advocate for the life of
the unborn child. In addition, the
Pregnancy Help Center works with Barbara Kannapple and the Youth Resource
Center in teaching the benefits of sexual abstinence to students in the local
schools. If you do not have one of the
baby bottles in the foyer or Connection Point, pick one up on Wednesday or
Sunday and fill it with coins and/or bills to bring on Sanctity of Life Sunday,
January 27.
During the month of
January we are called to be in prayer for revival and spiritual awakening in
our church, our community, and our nation.
This is the perfect time for Christians to join together and pray for
God to bring our nation and our lives back to Himself. Yesterday we saw a short video from Pastor
Fred Luter, the President of the Southern Baptist Convention. Here is a link to that video: http://www.namb.net/video/sbcctp-2013-luter/
Let’s join together and
pray for a great revival and spiritual awakening to move through our church,
our community, and our nation.
I encourage you to make
Wednesday Night Services a part of your weekly schedule. We begin at 5:00-6:00 PM with a meal prepared
in the Christian Life Center. Then at
6:30 PM there are mission groups for the children, Bible study and activities
for the youth, and Prayer time and Bible study for the adults. There is something for everyone. Following the services, the Sanctuary Choir
meets at 7:30 PM. Plan to come this Wednesday
night for the special events for everyone at FBC Carthage.
Have a blessed week as you
live out your faith in Jesus,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the
week:
1. We welcome Chris and Theresa Jones to FBC
Carthage as they came forward in the 10:45 AM service requesting membership by Statement
of Faith.
2. We express
sympathy to Jimmy Key and his family in the death of his mom, Dartha Key. Visitation for Mrs. Key will be at Sanderson
Funeral Home today, Monday, from 3:00 -8:00 PM.
The funeral will be on Tuesday at 11:00 AM.
3.
The Youth Ski Trip is this weekend, January
19-20 and all money and forms are due by this Wednesday, January 16. If you need your forms notarized, bring them
by the church office Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
4. UPCOMING
MISSION OPPORTUNITY: On Friday, February 8, 2013, FBC will be sending a team to
feed and enjoy an evening of activities with the children at the Brentwood
Tennessee Baptist Children's Home while the house parents there have an evening
out. Sponsored by the WOM, this project will offer opportunities for everyone
to be involved. You will not have to be on the bus that evening to take part in
this mission effort. More information and sign-up sheets will be available beginning
this Wednesday night during supper in the CLC and in the Sanctuary after the
evening service. Join with us as we
Exalt Christ, Establish Connections, and Express Compassion to the adults and
children at our local Tennessee Baptist Children's Home.
5. Volleyball continues on Thursday afternoons at 4:00 PM. Stop by and join in the fun.
6. January would be a good month to plan a Sunday School class
fellowship. Be sure and let the church office know your
plans so we can put them on the church calendar.
7. Just for Fun - With basketball season in full swing, here is
a great video I received last week of a last second shot in a church league
game: http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=W7Y7YWNX&utm_source=GodTube%20Must-See%20-%20Mobile&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=01/13/2013
