FBC Carthage E-News

November 26, 2012

Good Afternoon,

This is the week of our Fall Revival with Bob Pitman and we had a great service last night at the Ag Center. I encourage you to come each night at 7:00 PM and invite a friend, family member, or co-worker to attend with you. The churches of the New Salem Baptist Association are joining together in this revival and it is good to be together in the name of Jesus Christ for the purpose of sharing the gospel with our community. Mark Caruth from Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon is leading the worship and has several special groups from his church providing special music. Make plans to come to the revival service tonight after the Christmas Parade.

With the revival service tonight, we will not have our traditional hot chocolate/coffee tent for the parade nor will we have the singing on the steps. We’ll look forward to those activities for next year’s parade.

The Christmas gifts are coming in for the AWANA, Lighthouse, and Help Center. The AWANA Family Christmas Celebration will be this Sunday night, December 2 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. We will all join together with the children and their parents for this church-wide Christmas event. We are still in need of toys to give during this celebration. Parents are asked if they will bring an unwrapped gift for their child with his or her name on it by Saturday. There will be a wrapping party for all the gifts on Saturday at 12 Noon in the 2nd floor Education Building. All toys can be brought by the church office this week or to the gift wrapping party on Saturday.

The Lighthouse Christmas Parties begin this weekend with the Girls Party on December 1 and the Boys Party on December 8. Volunteers are needed at each party from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. You can meet at Lighthouse Camp in Smithville or you can follow the church bus leaving from the Parking Lot across from the Sanctuary.

On a ministry note, pray for baby Colton Ferrell today as he has surgery at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Also be praying for his parents, Matt and Amanda.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

Here’s the News for the week:
1. The BIG news is the Fall Revival tonight through Wednesday at the Ag Center. Services are at 7:00 PM each evening.

2. The Children’s Choir will be rehearsing this Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary.

3. The Church Council will meet this Sunday, December 2 at 3:00 PM. The earlier time will allow AWANA leaders to prepare for the Christmas Family Celebration at 5:00 PM.

4. The Deacons will meet this Sunday, December 2 at 7:15PM after the AWANA Christmas Family Celebration.

5. The Women on Missions will meet next Monday, December 3 at Marreet Hutchins home, 649 Carmack Avenue.

6. Pray for Marty and Shelia Dodge as they prepare for a mission trip to Poplar, Montana. Marty will be preaching in several services and they both will be helping with the Children’s Ministry.

7. Last week I visited with a friend and we discussed the predictions of the world to end in the middle of December. As we talked together, I was reminded on the importance of Christians living with a sense of urgency and realization that time is running out. One day, whether Jesus returns or we pass from this life in death, our time and opportunities to serve the Lord will be over. If there are friends and loved ones who need to hear a witness about the Lord, we need to share with them now. Don’t put it off until it is forever too late. Invite them to the revival, to a Christmas service, or better yet, share with them what Jesus means in your life.
