FBC Carthage E-News for May 7, 2012

FBC Carthage E-News

May 7, 2012

Good Morning,

The school year is quickly coming to a close as our students have their final two weeks of classes, high school seniors prepare for graduation this weekend, and college students have finished their semester. Please be praying for all our students during this important time in their lives.

We want to congratulate our high school and college graduates on completion of their diplomas and degrees. Our graduates are:

High School
Anna Maxwell
Anna Belle Lowe
Conner Dodson
Kyle Azbell

College
Meredith Petty
Brittney Chappell
Lauren Upchurch Welch
Crystal McCormick

Speaking of graduations, let’s remember to pray this week for Steve Dowell as he has the opportunity to be the Commencement Speaker this Saturday at the Smith County High School Graduation.

I also want to congratulate the Children’s Choir for a great service last night as they presented “Jonah’s Druthers”. This was one of the best programs I have seen in communicating the gospel of Christ. Thank you children for your hard work. A special thank you goes to Amy Broyles and all the leaders who served to bring this program together.

We are blessed to have so many dedicated leaders and workers at FBC Carthage. I appreciate all our workers as they serve faithfully in the many avenues of ministry. When we commend one ministry area for a good job, we do not want to leave out the many others who work week by week, month by month in the ministry of FBC Carthage. Our Sunday School teachers, AWANA leaders, mission leaders, musicians, sound technicians, choir, children’s church and nursery workers, ushers, committee members, Wednesday night supper workers, financial leaders, deacons and staff all work together to carry out the work and mission of FBC Carthage. Wow! It takes us all working as a team to be all God would have us to be. Thank you for your dedicated and diligent service to the Lord.

Have a great week as you serve the Lord in this community.
Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:
1. All senior adults are reminded of the Senior Adult Fellowship luncheon next Tuesday, May 8 at 11:30 AM. Bring a covered dish and join us for this time of fellowship and inspiration. Denise Hackett, a member of FBC Carthage and the Director of the Smith County Chamber of Commerce, will be our special guest speaker.

2. The monthly food distribution at the Ag Center will be this Wednesday, May 9 at 1:00 PM. Volunteers are needed to help with organizing the food at 11:30 AM.

3. This Wednesday, May 9 will be our monthly business meeting at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary.

4. Sunday, May 13 is Mother’s Day and there will be a special baby dedication in each of the morning services. We will also have a commissioning of Taylor Reece and Josh Lynn at the close of the services. Taylor and Josh will be leaving the following week for a six-week mission trip to Nairobi, Kenya.

5. There will not be Sunday evening services on Mother’s Day Sunday, May 13.

6. The New York Chainsaw Team will have a training meeting this Saturday, May 12 at 8:00 AM. We will meet at 108 College Avenue W (the Pregnancy Help Center) and receive safety instructions and hands-on training in cutting trees. The team will leave for Kings Park, New York on Sunday, May 20.

7. Be praying for our Italy Mission Team as they prepare for their trip to Naples, Italy. The team will leave May 31.

8. Through the summer, we will be hosting the Backyard Bible Clubs each Tuesday afternoon at Project Circle. The club meetings begin on Tuesday, June 5 at 4:00 PM. Lisa Swann and Anna Maxwell will be coordinating the meetings. Each week there will be Bible stories, crafts, and a light meal for the children. Volunteers can contact Anna or Lisa. Also, a Bible Study for the ladies at Project Circle could be coordinated in conjunction with the Backyard Bible Club. This would be a great start for a possible ongoing Connection Group.
