FBC Carthage E-News for April 2, 2012

FBC Carthage E-News
April 2, 2012

Good morning,

I believe!  iBelieve!  This Sunday, April 8 will be our celebration of the greatest victory in the history of mankind.  I believe Jesus Christ won the victory over sin, hell, death, and the grave.  He was crucified for our sins, buried, and raised to life again on the third day.  The angels said to the women at the tomb, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!” (Luke 24:5-6)

I believe there is hope for today and tomorrow because He lives.   In fact, all hope rests in this one fact, Jesus is risen from the dead.  I believe!

During this special weekend, plan to attend these special services:
April 6

Good Friday Service @ 7:00 PM
This service will be led by our Sunday School classes as we follow Jesus’ journey to the cross. We will remember the events leading up to the crucifixion and conclude the service with the observance of the Lord’s Supper.  All baptized believers are invited and welcome to join us at the Lord’s Supper.

April 8
Easter Sunday Services at FBC Carthage @ 8 & 10 AM
This year, we will have two Easter services in the church sanctuary at 8:00 and 10:00 AM. Both services will be filled praise and worship to our resurrected Lord. There will be a special music presentation and a biblical message of life and hope.

Let’s join together and go into our community on Saturday, April 7 at 10:00 AM to invite our friends and neighbors to the celebration of the resurrection. We will meet in the Christian Life Center, have prayer, and deliver invitations to attend the services.

During this week, take a journey with the Lord Jesus Christ to the cross by reading at least one of the gospel accounts of the week leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection.  Note the percentage of each gospel dedicated to this final week of the Lord’s ministry and life.  Those accounts can be found at:
          Matthew 21-28
          Mark 11-16
          Luke 19:28-24:53
          John 12:12-21:25

This is a special week to remember Jesus.  This is a special week to invite family and friends to join you for services at FBC Carthage.  Let’s celebrate!

Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:

1.     Be praying for Bro. Zeke and the ReFuel Mission Team as they serve in Nashville during ReFuel.  They will serve this week through Wednesday, joining with several churches in the Inglewood area to touch lives and make a difference in the name of Jesus. More information is found at http://www.fbccarthage.com/events/refuel-nashville/.  Here is a note from Zeke which can serve as a prayer guide:
FBC Family, please pray...
·        For focus among our teens and adults.  We have a busy week ahead of us with projects.  We want to honor each organization in completing each task.
·        We have some teens on this trip that do not know the Lord; pray for genuine life change to take place.
·        We have already experienced some spiritual warfare among our teens; pray against the adversary, Satan and his legions.
·        Lift up our Refuel Pastor - Chris Royalty, and Worship Leaders - Sam Allen and Making Mallory
·        Pray for the staff and work at East Literature Magnet School.  They are allowing us to use their facilities for our worship services.
·        Pray for the churches and ministry groups that have partnered together in this effort - Inglewood Baptist, Faith Baptist, FBC Carthage, Abundant Harvest, Hickman Baptist, Campus Life, and Refuge Church.

2.     The Pregnancy Help Center invites you to join them for their 2nd annual banquet on Monday, April 16. The center opened last summer to minister to girls and ladies during pregnancy and to focus on the life of the baby they carry. Many from FBC Carthage have been involved in the renovations and the ministry of this Center. Everyone is invited for the Banquet which will be held at the Ag Center on Monday, April 16 at 6:30 PM. Please make reservations by calling the church office at 735-1929 or the Pregnancy Help Center at 615 281-8054.

3.     Sunday, April 8 will be our first Defeated Creek Campground service at the pavilion in Defeated Creek Park.  Shawn Pinson will be leading this service for the campers at 8:30 AM.  This will be a special service and one you are invited to attend as a ministry to the campers and an encouragement to Shawn.   We will have a service at the campground each month through the summer.

4.     For a couple of weeks we have mentioned Connection Groups, Bible study groups that are designed to be led in homes, businesses, community centers, etc. The focus is on getting the gospel out to the people who are not coming to church. We will have an initial planning and organization meeting for everyone interested in being a part of these Connection Groups on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00 PM in the classroom to the right of the Sanctuary. If you have an idea of a location for one of these groups, plan to attend this time of planning.

5.     We had our first planning meeting for a mission team to North Shores Baptist Church at Kings Park, New York.  The trip will be May 20-25.  For more information, contact Tim Frank at tfrank@fbccarthage.com.

6.     Our Senior Adult Fellowship luncheon will be next Tuesday, April 10 at 11:30 AM.  We will enjoy a covered dish luncheon and a special program.  We will also discuss future trips and program ideas.
