FBC Carthage E-News for March 26, 2012

FBC Carthage E-News

March 26, 2012

Good Morning,

In less than two weeks we will commemorate the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ and then, three days later, celebrate His victorious resurrection from the dead. This is the most important event in human history as God’s Son took upon Himself your sin and the sin of all mankind to make the way for people to come into a forgiven, right relationship with God. May this year be a true celebration in your life of what Jesus has done for you.

Here are the special events and times for the services:
April 6 Good Friday Service @ 7:00 PM
This service will be led by our Sunday School classes as we follow Jesus’ journey to the cross. We will remember the events leading up to the crucifixion and conclude the service with the observance of the Lord’s Supper.

April 8 Easter Sunday Services at FBC Carthage @ 8 & 10 AM
This year, we will have two Easter services in the church sanctuary at 8:00 and 10:00 AM. Both services will be filled praise and worship to our resurrected Lord. There will be a special music presentation and a biblical message of life and hope.

In preparation for the Easter Sunday Celebration, we will have a community visitation on Saturday, April 7 at 10:00 AM. We will meet in the Christian Life Center, have prayer, and deliver invitations to the services to friends and neighbors.

Last Wednesday, the church voted to allow the Hispanic Mission to meet at FBC Carthage. They will have their services on Saturday evenings, beginning this Saturday, March 31. Please pray for this mission work as they reach out to the Hispanic population of Smith County with the gospel.

Have a blessed week as you serve the Lord,
Bro. Tim

Here’s the News for the week:
1. Attention all Vacation Bible School workers: This Tuesday, March 27 will be the Vacation Bible School Training Clinic at Rome Baptist Church at 6:30 PM. This clinic will have specific training for all age-group workers. There will be preparation helps and many great ideas to use in your class or area. The clinic also gives an early start to get us ready for this most important week. A meal is provided at 6:00 PM for you to enjoy before the training. Rome Baptist Church is located on Highway 70 toward Lebanon.

2. Also included this year during the VBS Clinic at Rome will be a preparation and training class for workers in the Backyard Bible Clubs in our county. The churches of the Association hold four Backyard Bible Clubs each week during the summer. A representative from FBC Carthage is needed to attend this training and help coordinate the Backyard Bible Club at Project Circle. Contact Tim Frank if you will be willing to help in this ministry.

3. Our Children’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held this Saturday, March 31at Crump Paris Park’s Kid Central Pavilion at 10 AM. All children, ages preschool through 6th Grade are invited to join us for this fun-filled event at Crump Paris Park Pavilion at the Kid’s Central Park. Donations of fun-sized wrapped candy are needed for this event and can be brought to the church office or to the Wednesday evening service. This is a great outreach event to invite your friends.

4. A chainsaw mission team is needed May 20-25 to work with Jim Wilburn and his church on Long Island, New York. There are several large trees which he needs removed. We will have an informational and organizational meeting this Sunday, April 1 at 4:00 PM in the Pastor’s Office on the first floor of the Education Building. All interested in this trip are asked to attend.

5. Membership 101, our basic new members and prospective member class, will be held this Sunday, April 1 at 9:30 AM in the Pastor’s Office on the first floor of the Education Building. This one session class covers the basic information about FBC Carthage and answers questions you may have on becoming a members.

6. Be praying for Bro. Zeke and the ReFuel Mission Team as they travel to Nashville this Sunday afternoon to lead several churches in the Nashville area in youth mission projects. We have been a part of ReFuel here in Smith County for three years and this year we have the opportunity to share the mission effort with another group of churches in the Inglewood area of Nashville. The mission project is April 1-4.

7. The Pregnancy Help Center will have its second annual banquet on Monday, April 16. The center opened last summer to minister to girls and ladies during pregnancy and to focus on the life of the baby they carry. Many from FBC Carthage have been involved in the renovations and the ministry of this Center. Everyone is invited for the Banquet which will be held at the Ag Center on Monday, April 16 at 6:30 PM. Please make reservations by calling the church office at 735-1929 or the Pregnancy Help Center at 615 281-8054.

8. Speaking of calling the church office, did you realize our church phone number is 735-1-WAY. That is our main emphasis each Sunday that Jesus is the one and only way to salvation and a right relationship with God. In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”  Therefore, when you go to call the church, simply remember that biblical truth and call 735-1-WAY.

9. For a couple of weeks we have mentioned Connection Groups, Bible study groups that are designed to be led in homes, businesses, community centers, etc. The focus is on getting the gospel out to the people who are not coming to church. We will have an initial planning and organization meeting for everyone interested in being a part of these Connection Groups on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00 PM in the classroom to the right of the Sanctuary. If you have an idea of a location for one of these groups, plan to attend this time of planning.

10. The deacons will meet this Sunday, April 1 at 5:00 PM. We will discuss plans for a Deacon Family Ministry Plan and the process for Deacon selection and election.
