FBC Carthage E-News for March 12, 2012

FBC Carthage E-News
March 12, 2012

Good Morning,

It seems early this morning, after moving ahead an hour on Saturday.  It normally takes my body a few days to get use to the time change.  I enjoy the added sunlight in the afternoons but it is hard to get up in the dark.  With the days growing longer, it will balance out soon.

We had a great time last week during the Revival by the River.  It is good to share with other believers in Jesus and have a chance to get to know them.  All the services were great and I will admit I am a little bias, I especially enjoyed the Thursday night time of worship led by Bro. Zeke and the worship band.

Tonight, March 12 is the “More Life” Rally at Whorten Springs Baptist Church in Smithville with Bobby Welch.  We will leave from the parking lot at 5:30 PM.  If you have never heard Bro. Bobby preach, I encourage you to come with us tonight for this amazing evening.  He is presently the Director for Church Growth in the Tennessee Baptist Convention.  For many years Bro. Bobby pastured the First Baptist Church in Daytona Beach, Florida.  While there, he developed the FAITH Evangelism Strategy which hundreds of churches have used in reaching people for Christ.  The rally tonight will tie in well to the message from yesterday on Connection Groups and doing “Whatever It Takes” to reach the people of Smith County and the world with the gospel of Jesus.

We had a great Mission Montana meeting yesterday in preparation for the summer mission trip.  The major work this year will be a Vacation Bible School for the children and teens.  The church will also be in the middle of building a new 60’x100’ building for their fellowship hall and classrooms.  I am sure we will have opportunity to assist them in this effort as well.  If you would like to be a part of this team, contact me and I will get you the details.  Our next meeting will be Sunday, April 15 at 4:30 PM.

Please be praying today for Stephen, Audrey, and Titus Russell as they prepare for Titus’ surgery tomorrow morning at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.  Last night during the evening service we had the opportunity to see a special video of the Russell family and have a time of prayer with them over the phone.  If you have not read an update from Titus lately, check it out at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/stephenrussell

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

Here’s the news for the week:
1.      We welcome Karen Shoulders as she begins her membership process at FBC Carthage.

2.      During the next several weeks leading up to Easter Sunday, we will be receiving the Annie Armstrong Offering for North American Missions.  With more than 5,000 North American Mission Board missionaries serving in the United States and Canada, this offering goes directly to the mission work of starting new churches and reaching the lost for Christ.  Prayerfully consider the amount the Lord would have you to give to reach our nation for Jesus.  Be willing to do “Whatever It Takes.”

3.     All adults, 55 and over, are invited to join us for the senior adult potluck luncheon tomorrow, March 13 at 11:30 AM in the Christian Life Center. We will have a delicious lunch, a inspirational program and discuss upcoming trips to the Cumberland County Playhouse for the “Sound of Music” and the Senior “Jubilee” in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

4.     Anyone interested in helping pack the backpacks that are sent home each week with children who need food for the weekend should come to the Ag Center on Tuesday, March 13 at 5:00 p.m.  The process usually takes about an hour. This is a continuation of our "We Love Smith County" projects.

5.     The 2nd Harvest Food Distribution will be held this Wednesday, March 14 at the Smith County Ag Center.  Volunteers are needed at 11:30 AM to assist with the preparation and distribution which will begin around 1:00 PM.

6.     Enlistment is underway for workers in our Vacation Bible School, held June 10-15.  Complete the enlistment form from the yesterday’s bulletin and give it to Rhonda Ethridge, place it in the offering on Sunday, or bring it by the display table on the 2nd floor of the Educational Building.  There are additional registration forms at the display table.  Everyone is needed for Vacation Bible School as we reach out into the community and touch the lives of hundreds of boys and girls.  Let’s make this Vacation Bible School the best by being involved in the lives of children.  The first training event will be the VBS Clinic for all workers held at Rome Baptist Church (on Highway 70 toward Lebanon) on Tuesday, March 27 at 6:30 PM.
