Good morning,
The Children’s Choir program last night was a great blessing. The children presented a musical entitled, “Arrest These Merry Gentlemen” which portrayed Bethlehem on the night of Jesus’ birth. I really liked the program in the Fellowship Hall. Thanks to all who brought finger-food for the refreshments. A special thanks to Amy Broyles and all the Children Choir workers who worked so hard to bring the program together.
The month of December is filled with special services and activities in celebration of Jesus’ birth. This week is the Toyland for needy families at the Smith County Help Center. If you have not brought your gift, you can drop it off at the church office or take it by the Help Center on Main Street by Wednesday.
This Sunday night, December 11 will be our caroling and Christmas services with the homebound members of our church. We will meet at 5:00 PM in the Sanctuary and form ministry groups to go to the different homes. The youth will be coming around and caroling for the people. This is a service for us to reach out to those unable to attend and let them know we love them.
I remind everyone of the special Christmas Celebration on Sunday, December 18 at 10:00 AM at the Smith County High School Auditorium. Invite your family and friends for this service of worship and praise.
On Sunday evening, December 18, the Heart Strings Harp Ensemble will present a Christmas service at 6:00 PM.
Our annual Christmas Eve service will begin at 5:30 PM and will include carols, the observance of the Lord’s Supper, and a candle-lighting service. Bring your family for this meaningful reflection on the birth of Christ, the Light of the world.
The Christmas Morning Service on December 25 will be held at 10:00 AM in the church sanctuary. The deacons and Church Council discussed the time for this service and felt it would be best to have it at 10:00 AM. Please note that both special services, December 18 and 25 will begin at 10:00 AM.
This is going to be a wonderful month of special services. Prepare your heart for the celebration of Jesus. It is all about Him.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the week:
1. The Lighthouse Christmas Party for boys will be held this Saturday, December 10 at the Lighthouse Christian Camp in Smithville. If you can go and help this Saturday, please contact Bro. Tim at the church 735-1929. We are lining up transportation for the boys from Smith County in the church van.
2. Speaking of Christmas Parties, the Children’s Choir will have their Christmas Party this Wednesday night, December 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Happy J’s Skating Rink. Parents, please bring the children directly to Happy J’s on Highway 25 in Tanglewood.
3. During the Wednesday prayer time and Bible study for adults, we will be focusing on International missions in the sanctuary. This is the Week of Prayer for International Mission as we remember the 5000+ missionaries of the International Mission Board. Our offerings through the Lottie Moon Offering go directly for the mission work in more than 130 countries around the world. Our church goal this year is $11,500. This offering is our gift to Jesus on His birthday. Through this offering, thousands of people will hear and receive salvation through faith in Jesus Christ in this coming year. May we each give generously so others can hear the good news.
4. Due to the special mission study this Wednesday night we will move the business meeting to next week, December 14.
5. Sign-up has begun for the two-day Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home Mission Project on December 29-30. We will drive back and forth each day. The work will be primarily painting in two of the residence cottages. You can be a part of this project by signing up at the Connection Point, in your Sunday School class, or send an e-mail reply to the church office. There is no cost for this project, simply be a part of the team.
6. All Senior Adults, 60+ are invited to a covered dish Christmas luncheon next Tuesday, December 13 at 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. We will have a delicious luncheon, great fellowship, and a special Christmas program. Invite others to attend the luncheon with you.
