February 28, 2011
Good morning,
This is an exciting week as we begin to move from Winter into Spring. There may be several additional days of cold weather but moving into March is a sure sign Spring is almost here. Good bye gray skies, hello sunshine and warmth.
This week is also an exciting week as we join several churches for a county-wide Revival at the River. The services will be each evening at 7:00 PM at the Ag Center. Our men’s quintet will be singing Tuesday night. Here is a listing of the preachers and special music for each night:
• Revival by the River February 28-March 5 @ 7:00 PM
Monday Scott Nesbitt with special music by His Scars
Tuesday Sam Allen with special music by FBC Carthage Quintet
Wednesday Floyd Massey with special music by the Nesbitt Family
Thursday Doug Dillard with special music by Forgiven
Friday Shane Smith with special music by the Bryant Family
Saturday Michael Nesbitt with special music by Right on Time
Sunday Jason Lohorn with special music by Lighthouse Praise Band
• Still Waters Women’s Conference March 7-8 @ 7:00 PM
Featuring Tina Craighead, speaker with music by Annette Bass and Lynn Sharenberger.
• Smith County Youth Conference March 9-10 @ 7:00 PM
Wednesday, March 9 Speaker, Zeke Tomaselli and music by Without Bounds
Thursday, March 10 Speaker, Shayne Ray and music by Zeke Tomaselli
During the service last night we shared five steps of revival and the pattern we see throughout the Bible for God’s people to return to Him. In preparation for the message I found the following quote from Henry Blackaby:
“Revival is a divinely induced work in which God’s people pray, repent of their sins, and return to a holy, spirit-filled, obedient, love relationship with God.”
May this week of revival services lead us to true revival as the people of God. Souls wil be saved as our hearts and spirits are revived. May we each pray this prayer today, “Lord, send revival, and let it begin in me.”
Have a blessed week and enjoy the beautiful weather of spring.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the week:
1. We welcome Renee Apple Davenport as the newest member to our congregation.
2. This Sunday, March 6, Dr. David Sills, Professor of Missions at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky will be sharing on his research trip with the Inuit people of Northern Canada. We have been praying for the Lord to open a way for us to minister to this group and see a Baptist church started. Dr. Sills will share at 3:30 PM and preach in the 6:00 PM service. If you haven’t read his report from the trip with the Inuit people, you can read it at:

4. Ladies - On Monday and Tuesday nights of next week, March 7th and 8th, the women of Smith County have the opportunity to join together in worship at the Ag Center (beginning at 7:00 both nights). We're calling it the Still Waters Women's Conference. Tina Craighead will be teaching in the worship services. Lynn Sharenberger and Annette Bass will be leading our music. Let's attend these worship opportunities expecting God to pour out His blessings.
And - because we know we should - let's pray first. This coming Saturday, March 5 from 7:00 a.m. to noon, let's have someone in the small sitting room beside the library calling to God and asking Him to show us His glory at this conference. We'll have prayer lists there for you. Bring a cup of coffee, your Bible, a friend to pray with if you want. If you need to bring your children, we can have care for them while you pray. Call or email Kandy Smith (489-6912/(ksmith90@utk.edu) and tell her what time you're available. There will be a signup at church this Wednesday night. We'll work out the details before Saturday. Just be willing and available so that God knows we're serious about seeing ourselves and other women in Smith County come to know Him in a life-changing way.
5. We still have several passages available for you to write a devotional for the 40 Days of Easter. We will send a daily devotional during the days leading up to Easter to focus our attention on Jesus and His final week, beginning with the Triumphant Entry through His resurrection. If you will write a devotional, please contact Tim Frank for an assigned passage.
6. Plans are being made for a mission trip to Kenya, Africa, May 26- June 12. If you have interest, contact Bro. Tim. More details will be coming next week.
7. Here is the web site for U.S. Passports. I encourage you to have an active passport for your personal travel and in preparation for mission opportunities.
