FBC Carthage E-News
July 26, 2010
Good Morning,
“There is no place like home.” Dorothy said that of her home in Kansas in “The Wizard of Oz” and I say it for Carthage, Tennessee after a great mission trip to Montana. Thank you for praying for the team as we traveled and served the people of Poplar, Montana. This was my first Pow-Wow ministry. I enjoyed the festivities and pageantry of the Native Americans. We distributed water, coffee, picked up trash, read through the New Testament and shared the gospel with many using the evangel-cube. We had two who prayed and turned their lives to Jesus! Please continue to pray for Pastor Vance Thomas and his wife, Cathy as they serve on the reservation. Also, pray for Bill and Kathy Hess and the other members of the First Baptist Church in Poplar.
I want to say a special “Thank You” to Zeke for preaching on Sunday, July 18 while I was away. I heard many great comments on the services. We are blessed to have Zeke serving here at FBC Carthage.
This week is a great opportunity for our church to minister and serve our community at the Smith County Fair. We will have a booth at the fair and will be handing our water and fans, painting faces, making balloon animals, and sharing information about the church and the Lord Jesus Christ. The booth will be open from 5:30 – 8:30PM each evening. We are still in need for additional workers to come and help with the booth. For more information you can contact Tim Frank at 735-1929.
This week we have the opportunity to host the Smith County teachers for lunch on Wednesday. This annual event is a chance for us to express our appreciation for the school teachers and administrators of our county and to bless them as they begin a new school year. Preparation will begin around 8:00 AM and we will serve lunch at 10:45 AM. Come and join us as we serve this special group.
This week is also preparation for the Power Team Crusade which begins next Wednesday, August 4. I am excited as these men and ladies come to share with our community the power of the gospel as well as the power of muscles. The services will be August 4-8 and will begin each evening at 7:00 PM at the Ag Center. In the service yesterday, I asked each of us to write down the names of five people we will pray for this week and invite to come with us to the Power Team services next week. This will be a week that will change the eternal destiny of many in our community. Help spread the word and invite your friends, family and neighbors. Make a call. Send an e-mail invitation. Post an invitation to your friends on Facebook.
There are also many ways you can be involved during the Power Team Crusade. We need volunteers each night in set-up and clean-up of the stage area. We need ushers and greeters at the doors. We need decision counselors to share with those making decisions for Jesus. We also will be helping clean-up after the fair on Monday and Tuesday so the Ag Center will be ready for the Crusade on Wednesday. This will be a week for you to be involved making an investment of time and energy in preparation for God to work in a mighty way.
This is going to be one exciting week. Join in as we serve the Lord by serving our community. Have a blessed week.
Bro. Tim
