FBC Carthage E-News
February 22, 2010
Good morning,
I have BIG, exciting news that everyone is waiting to hear, the church voted yesterday to call Zeke Tomaselli as the Minister to Youth and Music and he has accepted the position. I am excited. Zeke is excited. He will begin serving officially on March 1, 2010. He and his wife, Layne, are planning on going with the youth on the ski trip this weekend and having an opportunity to get to spend time with the youth and chaperones. You may want to take a moment and write Zeke a note, welcoming he and Layne to FBC Carthage. His e-mail address is zeketomaselli@gmail.com.
Zeke and Layne are in the process of looking for a home in Carthage. They have been out twice with a realtor and have seen several houses. Be praying for them as they make this important decision.
During this time of transition I want to say a special “Thank-You” to Jerry Wilmore, Steve Dowell, and Kandy Smith for their work in leading worship and the choir in this interim time. They have done a great job and I appreciate them and their team spirit. The music and worship ministry of FBC Carthage is a vital part of the services each week.
“Thank You” also goes to Stephen Russell, Phillip Slagle, Kathy Piper and other leaders in our youth who have stepped-up as key leaders during this time.
One thing to keep in mind, with Zeke coming as the Minister to Youth and Music, I anticipate more opportunities for members to serve the Lord in the Youth and Music ministries. One of the key qualities that Zeke brings to FBC Carthage is his experience of working with volunteers in ministry. He realizes that ministry is more than the Pastor and staff can do. The biblical model is found in Ephesians 4:11-16 where the Pastor and staff are charged with the task of equipping the members of the church to be actively involved in the ministry of the church. There is much work to do for the Lord in Smith County. Together, may we see Jesus Christ exalted as we establish connections with the people of the community so that the love and compassion of Christ may be expressed to every man, woman, boy, and girl.
This is a great week to be connected to FBC Carthage.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news:
1. Speaking of being connected, we will have our monthly Membership 101 class this Sunday afternoon, February 28 at 4:00 PM. This class for new and prospective members is designed to introduce you to the life and ministry of FBC Carthage. We will discuss what, why and how of church membership. We will share the church’s vision and mission. There will also be time for you to ask questions about any aspect of the church. The Membership 101 class will meet in the room just to the left, behind the sanctuary.
2. The 2010 Church Directories are in! If you are a new member or if you had your photograph made by Olan Mills in October, come by the church office for your free copy of the directory or pick one up after Wednesday or Sunday services.
3. All youth and chaperones are reminded to meet at the church by 5:00 AM this Saturday, February 27 for the Ski Trip. Zeke and Layne will be going with us and sharing during the weekend.
