FBC Carthage E-News
October 26, 2009
Good afternoon,
E-News is a little late today due to a meeting I had in Cookeville early this morning. I have the opportunity of serving on the board of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) at Tennessee Tech. (My generation knows it as the BSU, Baptist Student Union.) The BSU was a great influence in my life as a student at Tech. There have been many changes over the years but the focus is still on following Jesus Christ and making a difference on the campus. The BCM has a new director, John Aaron Matthew, and he is doing a great job reaching out to the students. They have over 200 students involved in Bible study groups on campus, in addition to a weekly worship service on Tuesday nights called Common Ground. Every Thursday at 11 AM different churches in the area bring in lunch for 150 students and share a short devotion. For all college students at Tennessee Tech and other universities and college, I encourage you to go by and check out what’s happening at the BCM. FBC Carthage is part of this ministry to students through the Cooperative Program. The Tech BCM web site is www.tntechbcm.com. Check it out.
Speaking of college students, I have had to revise the College Road Trip schedule slightly. Please take note of the details below:

We will plan to leave from Carthage at 4:15 PM.

We will plan to have lunch together.
Thursday, November 5 UT Knoxville

This year I am inviting High School Juniors and Seniors to go with me on the College Road Trip. We will visit the campuses and have a meal together with the students (my treat). Let me know which of the trips you will be able to make.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news for the week:
1. There is still time for you and your family to be a part of the Pictorial Directory. There are still appointment times available for today and Tuesday from 3-9 PM. Call the church office for an open time.
2. A special thanks to the ladies who have helped in the Church Directory project. Also, thanks to all those who have come by the church and had your picture made. This church directory will be a great tool for our church for months to come. The directory will serve as a ministry tool for members, providing contact information for one another. It also helps new members to get to know the names and faces of the members of FBC Carthage.
3. Speaking of new members, we welcome J.J. and Charlene Gilley as our newest members. They will be baptized this Sunday, November 1 during the 10:45 AM service.
4. Remember the special Family Fun Festival that will be held in the Family Life Center this Wednesday, October 28 from 5:30-7:30 PM for all children and preschoolers. There will be food, games, inflatables and a lot of fun. Invite your friends to join you for the fun. Parents and adults, we still need chili, cookies, candy and workers for this event. This event is coordinated by the Preschool and Children Activities Committees.
5. It’s that time of year again, time to “Fall Back.” This Saturday, October 31, before you go to bed, set your clocks back one hour.
6. The Church Council and Deacons will meet this Sunday for their regular monthly meetings at 4:00 PM and 4:45 PM.
7. Please be in prayer for Dorsey Jackson’s daughter, Candace on Thursday, October 29. She will be having major surgery at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
8. Congratulations to Zachary Anderson and his team on their championship win in the Youth Football League.
9. Sunday was a blessing as we focused on the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The link below is to the short video we watched on Sunday night. Take a minute and watch one person’s interpretation of the Lord’s coming. Be ready for the ending.
